Meet Mr Pusskins

One of the many benefits of having young nieces and nephews is that you get to experience a second childhood by buying them books and toys that you'd secretly quite like yourself. I'm not too much of a grown up to admit I LOVE Mr Pusskins. For the unitiated Mr Pusskins is a fantastic feline character in a series of books by the award winning children's author Sam Lloyd, the books are well written and brilliantly illustrated. I cannot look at Mr Pusskins without grinning from ear to ear, especially when he has his disgruntled face on! The feedback from the children who have wrestled these fine books from my grasp is that they love Mr Pusskins too. Mr Pusskins will probably be best appreciated by children of around six and under not to mention the grown up on bedtime story duty.

One night Mr Pusskins meakes a bold bid for freedom. Will life diving into bins and getting into trouble with The Pesky Cat Gang live up to his expectations or is his home with indulgent owner Emily where the heart is? Mr Pusskins and Little Whiskers

Mr. Pusskins and Little Whiskers: Another Love Story

When Emily brings home a new kitten, 'Little Whiskers', Mr Pusskins finds himself 'displeased with his fabulous surprise' and it's not long before Little Whiskers is making her mischievous presence felt. This is the second book in the Mr Pusskins series but the first one I came across which may partly explain why I have retained such a soft spot for it. I was and remain dazzled by the energetic illustrations and the laugh out loud writing. As an eldest child I also identified with poor Mr Pusskins having his nose put out of joint by the arrival of a new kitten. Any young child would be delighted to receive this book but I think it would make a particularly appropriate choice for an elder child to help prepare them for the arrival of a new sibling.
