Halo is a first person shooter. You play as master chief. The last spartan in existence. Your orders, stay alive, and save the galaxy from the Covenent and most impotantly, the Flood.
Call of Duty is also a first person shooter. Each Cod game is based on World Wars 1 and 2 with the exception of Modern Warfare. You play as soldiers in the "good" armies of the war.
Each game has its own unique features and their own fighting styles. But both games have one thing in common. They deliver them for the best experience possible.
