Meet Mrs Brown and her boys
Mrs Browns Boys in undoubtedly one of the funniest new shows I have seen in a long time. Most of the Cast is also related in one way or another in real life as well. The Irish Comedy show is about Agnes Brown and her family. I recommend viewing for 15 but take a look and judge for yourself

Before the TV Series
Mrs Browns Boys Books and Films
The Characters of Mrs Browns Boys first appeared in a series of books written by Brendan O'Carroll. The Books were namedThe Mammy
The Chisellers
The Granny
The Scrapper and
The Young Wan
These books were first published in Ireland then later in the UK.
Brendan also wrote another book Mrs Browne which was turned into a movie starring Angelica Huston. The movie proved to be such a success That Brendan then wrote 7 film-like adaptions of his books which he starred as Mrs Brown (the 'e' was dropped). Some of his family was cast to star along side of him as well. He also took the show on the road appearing in play around Ireland and the UK.
Everything proved to be so sucdcessful that Brendan was approached to write a TV Series of Mrs Browns Boys.

The Cast of Mrs Browns Boys
A large part of the cast is played by Brendan O'Carroll's real life family.
This may be a bit confusing at first but I think you get the drift.
Brendan O'Carroll is Agnes
His wife in real life plays Agne's daughter, Cathy
His sister in real life plays Agnes's friend, Winnie
His daughter in real life plays Agnes's daughter in law, Maria.
His son in real life is Agnes's sons best friend Buster and
his real life daughter in law plays Agnes Daughter in Law Betty

Filming Live
Mishaps on Mrs Browns Boys
For example; a TV camera man is caught backing out of the kitchen set by another camera, which Mrs Brown includes into the script with ease, and then there is also the scene at the Pub when Mrs Brown remembers her handbag is at home so get off her seat runs off set onto the 'home' set grabs her bag and then goes back saying that her tablets are in there. See the video below.
Another things that happens is that Mrs Brown (Brendan O'Carroll) will sometimes improvise and make things up, seemingly to an unknowing cast. In 2 seperate episodes in Series 2 I have witnessed such behavior. ! was when he called back Dermot and asked him to do a dance for her. The look on Dermot's face says it all, he just stands there smiling not knowing what to do, he eventually just walks away. In another episode Mrs Brown is talking to Cathy and Dermot and she starts to walk around, she literally walks off set and around a wall and back onto the set again. When the camera goes to Cathy and Dermot they are both standing there frowning and looking confused.
Things like this just make it all that more enjoyable to watch, no retakes to get it perfect. As far as I am concern that adds a special touch of class to the show.

Agnes Brown
The Star
Brendan O'Carroll plays Agnes BrownAgnes is the head of the family after the death of her husband some time ago. She is foul mouthed and says it as she sees it. She always has the best interests of her family and friends in mind but quite often puts either her foot or her mouth where it doesn't belong. Agnes also likes to make fun of her friend, Winnie and Grandad. She also tends to be a bit interfering but luckily they all still love her .
Winnie
The Friend
Winnie's has been a long time friend to Agnes. Agnes often tends to make fun of her but Winnie doesn't seen to take much notice.
Winnies husband seems to be always in hospital with something wrong like broken bones and the likes due to him being accident prone.
Cathy
The Only Daughter
Jennifer Gibney as Cathy Brown.Cathy is Agnes's only daughter. She's a student of psychology at night and is a waitress by day, she is also on the look out for the right man but try as she might, Cathy just can't seem to meet the man of her dreams. She thought she had with Mick but turns out he was married.
Grandad
The Silent one
Granddad is Agnes's Father in Law> Grandad is a little senile and also complains a fair bit much to Agnes's dislike. Agnes has said Granddad is "the cross God sent me to balance out the fact that he gave me such wonderful and beautiful children (and Cathy)".
Dermot
The Costume Wearer
Dermot works by promting products and ideas by dressing in very large costumes. He has been in Jail with his best friend Buster! Dermot is a likeable guy with a sensitive personality by which I mean he worries a lot. especially when it came to getting married to Maria.
But now he is worried about the birth of their Baby!
Maria
The Nurse
Fiona O'Carroll plays Maria Nicholson.Maria Nicholson is Dermot's girlfriend now wife and comes from a well off family and her mother is quite snooty much to Agnes dismay. But Agnes is relieved that Maria does not take after her mother. Maria works as a nurse. Maria and Mrs Brown have bonded even more now that Maria is Pregnant.
buster
Trouble bringing yet loveable Friend
Buster is Dermot's best friend since they were young. They are often getting into trouble with the law and have served time in jail together. Buster is a lovable character and very faithful to his friends but at times he can be quite the eejit!.
Betty
The other Daughter in Law
Amanda Woods as Betty Brown.Betty is Mark's wife and Agnes's daughter in law. Agnes and Betty dont often get along but Agnes keeps the peace due to Mark and Betty have a son.
Mark
The Sensible One!
Pat Shields as Mark Brown.Mark is the eldest of the children and is the most sensible one of the whole family. But everyone is shocked to find out that he can not read or write. This is because he left school early to help out when his father passed away.
Rory
The Gay One
Rory Cowan plays Rory Brown.Rory is Agnes Homesexual son but he has always been afraid to let Anges know. When Agnes finally finds out she says "I know about your illness!"
Rory is a 'hair stylist' by trade
Dino
The Gay One's Partner
Gary Hollywood plays Dino DoyleDino is Rory's boyfriens. They both manage the Salon they work in together. Dino is also a chef and has prepared a meal for Mrs Brown and Maria mother Hillary
Hilary
The Snob!
Hillary is Maria's mother and is quite snobby. Agnes is always trying to outdo her. Hilary tries to use her upbringing and stature to belittle Agnes but somehow that just never seems to work. Agnes always manages to shock Hilary into leaving!
Trevor
The Missionary
Trevor is another son of Agnes, who only appears in the Christmas Special and a few episodes of series 2, as he has been away with his work with the missionairies. Trevors return home was a great shock to Agnes and she loved having home but didn't like him going back again.

- Epsiode 2 of the 1st season is the best. Agnes' daughter Cathy gets a dirty phone call. Cathy says 'he says if I can guess what he's got in his hand I can have it'. Agnes grabs the phone an says. 'If it fits in one hand you can f***ing keep it!' Makes me laugh everytime
