A note from this lensmaster

Vote For your Top 100 Favorite MTG Sites

For a while I was not updating any squidoo lenses. One reason was simply the lack of time, another is because after you have them for a while they tend to get cluttered with too much information, I mean it's just one page, and you don't want to remove something after you've spent a good amount of time on it, at least... I don't (and I later found out that's the quickest way to cause your lensrank to plumit). That was the case with this, it was very cluttered. So I began breaking this lens up into more focused Magic the Gathering topics and lenses. I thought of breaking the game down by set or card types or who knows. I began deleting modules from here and putting that content on other more focused Magic the Gathering Lenses, well, as I mentioned I watched my lensrank drop like a rock, as this was my first lens and always ranked highest of all my lenses. I've added back many of the modules, and its getting back up where it used to be, but I do have many Squidoo Lenses regarding Magic the Gathering, so many now, I created a Magic on Squidoo Group and would love to have you visit and check out all the great Magic the Gathering Lenses on Squidoo and have your Magic the Gathering Lens added to it. Of course I always have my Magic the Gathering Website which features MTG News, MTG Art, and MTG Discussion so be sure to check it out.

Magic: the Gathering

What wiki says

Magic: The Gathering (colloquially "Magic", "MTG", or "Magic Cards") is a collectible card game created by mathematics professor Richard Garfield and introduced in 1993 by Wizards of the Coast. Magic is the first example of the modern collectible card game genre and still thrives today, with an estimated six million players in over seventy countries. Note that the "six million" figure is the one used by Wizards of the Coast; while they would be in the best position to know through tournament registrations and card sales, they also have an interest in presenting an optimistic estimate to the public. Magic can be played by two or more players each using a deck of printed cards or a deck of virtual cards through the Internet-based Category: Magic: The Gathering Online - or third-party programs.

Each game represents a battle between powerful wizards who use the magical spells, items, and fantastic creatures depicted on individual Magic cards to defeat their opponents. Although the original concept of the game drew heavily from the motifs of traditional fantasy role-playing games such as Dungeons & Dragons, the gameplay of Magic bears little resemblance to pencil-and-paper adventure games, while having substantially more cards and more complex rules than many other card games.

An organized tournament system and a community of Category: Pro Tour (Magic - : The Gathering)|professional Magic players has developed, as has a secondary market for Magic cards. Magic cards can be valuable due to not only their scarcity, but also their utility in game play and the aesthetic qualities of their artwork.

The Power Nine

The Most Powerful Magic: the Gathering Cards ever printed

In Magic: The Gathering, the Power Nine are nine rare cards that were printed early in the game's history and are widely regarded as excessively powerful and arguably the most powerful cards in the game. In games where they are legal, they play an important role in the competitive tournament atmosphere. All nine cards were rares printed only in the Alpha, Beta, and Unlimited sets, meaning they were only printed for a short period from late 1993 to early 1994.
