Manchester United History 

Formed in 1878 as Newton Heath LYR F.C. In 1902 the club was taken over by J H Davies who changed the name of the club to Manchester United.

Check out the squad photograph from the 1905-1906 season. Look at the player on the front row second along from the left. Is that Wayne Rooney's great grandad?
