Diversity is one of my favorite designs. I love the happy people that were formed when I created it. The center Diversity is the result of all the best parts of ourselves when we make the decision to come together. Each of us is different and the same in the eyes of God. We all must embrace our differences as well as our similarities to be united as one people under Him. When we join together in holding the line of diversity, we create a circle of strength and the energy formed from love increases between us all. The happy people in Diversity embrace each other to form the circle of diversity and to protect it forever. When I look at this design, I feel a great love for humanity. I also think about the Its a Small World ride at Walt Disney World and its very important message for us all.

I was reading a magazine when I spied a copy of William Wordsworth's poem Daffodils. As I read it, I thought about how much my Mom loves daffodils and that she would love this poem. As daffodils are such a sunny flower and are just popping up, I was inspired to draw a daffodil sun especially for my Mom. This is my mother's day gift to her and to all mothers.

Diversity

"Diversity" is one of my favorite designs. I love the happy people that were formed when I created it. The center "soul" is the result of all the best parts of ourselves when we make the decision to come together. Each of us has differences and yet we are the same in the eyes of God. When we join together in holding the line of diversity, we create a circle of strength, and the energy formed from love increases between us all. The happy people in this design embrace each other to form the circle of diversity and to protect it forever. When I look at this design, I feel a great love for humanity. I also think about the "It's a Small World" ride at Walt Disney World and it's very important message for us all.

Encouragement

When people are down or discouraged often things look dark and drab. This design with it's bright and vibrant colors of yellow, green and orange help to encourage me when I am feeling down. I chose these colors as they are the colors of citrus fruits; lemons, limes and oranges. These fruits grow in warm and sunny climates and their frangrances are uplifting and refreshing. Close your eyes and you can almost smell the colors if you imagine it. Open your eyes to this happy design and watch it pop out encouraging you to feel fresh and new.

Growth

I named this design growth as the rays are continually growing larger and larger. As we too grow from the inside out, the sun's warmth grows as it rises each day. The colors I used, pinks and greens, symbolize a flower or plant growing in the sun; ever expanding its petals and leaves to welcome its nourishment.

Hope

The design "Hope" holds many symbols for me. A flower pushing it's way through the snow in early Spring. A bud opening to allow the beautiful flower to emerge. Layers of emptiness and hopelessness peel back to reveal inner beauty and hopefulness to shine from within. All these images spring forth when I look at this design and I feel hopeful for the future. Beautiful shades of green, blue and salmon were used to represent the newness of Spring. "Hope springs eternal."

Kaleidasun

"Kaleidasun" was inspired by the awesome images seen in my father's kaleidoscope collection. I wanted to capture the jewel like images and colors seen as the objects turn and move inside the mirrors that help to make kaleidoscopes. This sun is my interpretation of what one of my suns might look like in a kaleidoscope. The "glassy" jewels really stand out against the black. Can you imagine this sun changing into newly formed images as you turn it?

S is for Sun

Have you ever celebrated Cinco de Mayo? I just love going to Mexican canteenas especially when I am celebrating something special. The brightly colored kerchiefs strung across the ceilings, the colorful Mexican art, hand painted pottery and hand woven rugs and throws decorating these warm and friendly establishments was my inspiration for "S is for Sun". I tried to capture the same bright colors and similar elements to create this bright and beautiful "Sol". The letter "S" is used throughout the face creating the cheeks and eyelashes. It is also used within the outer tracks of the design. When I look at this sun I am ready to sit out on a patio with a pitcher of margueritas and a basket of chips and salsa. For people who just like bright and festive colors or design for the pleasure of design, "S" is for you.

Strawberry Sun Days

"Strawberry Sun Days" was inspired from eating ice cream "conies" with my fairy grandmother every night. This yummy sun has a scoop of strawberry ice cream for its face with strawberry eyes, a banana mouth and for its nose, a cherry sitting ever so deliciously on top of a dollop of whipped cream. Pecans circle the face and ice cream cones with cherries stuck to the ends form the rays of the sun. The entire sun sits in a pool of hot fudge and colored sprinkles (jimmies) and ice cream spoons dance happily between the rays. Wouldn't you like to dig in and take a big bite?

Sun in Clouds

The caption says "Behind every cloud the sun is smiling". This is so true! I was inspired to draw this sun after seeing the suns' rays peek through the clouds after a very long rainy spell. This sun, like the sun I witnessed, is smiling warm and bright. It filters through the clouds of gray to reveal its happiness. Every lover of sun should add this design to their collection.

Sunnycomb

As the caption says, "It takes a lot of bees to make liquid sunshine." "Sunnycomb" was inspired by my fascination of honeybees. The honeycomb face looks sticky and sweet with the many bees buzzing busily in and out of the eyes and nose dripping with honey. The playful rays which are formed using the bottoms of very large honey bees, look like they are standing guard ready to protect their "liquid sunshine" from anyone who would steal it before it is ready to be eaten. But don't worry, they are just "bee"coys. When I look at this sun, I can't help but hear my sister singing "I'm bringing home a baby bumblebee" when she was very young. The colors I chose to use for "Sunnycomb" are very warm and rich yellows, golds and browns. Don't forget to bring your honey pot!

Sunny Birthday

"Sunny Birthday to you; Sunny Birthday to you; Sunny Birthday dear sunshine; Sunny Birthday to you"!

"Sunny Birthday" has a birthday cake face. I drew roses made of frosting for the eyes and nose and piped "Happy Birthday" across the bottom creating the mouth. The suns' rays are made up of party hats with the words Happy Birthday and balloons alternately on them. Between each hat is a colorful balloon with a lit birthday candle in front. The tops of the hats have streamers bursting from them. Everyone has a birthday and it is the perfect excuse to have cake. Don't forget to make a wish before you blow out the candles!

Sunny Daffodil

I was reading a magazine when I spied a copy of William Wordsworth's poem "Daffodils". As I read it, I thought about how much my Mom loves daffodils and that she would love this poem. Sunny Daydreams

"Sunny Daydreams" is the sun I see in my dreams. It is happy and free; not a care in the world. It floats slowly through my dream warming everything it touches. It is often mistaken for a flower when it sits among the cool vines. Isn't he cheerful?
