Old Dogs and Their Illnesses

I went to the vets last week. Mukunda had a cough which would not go away. This was the second time we went there for the same condition, and Mukunda's Vet, Frank, was not there, so he was seen by Frank's daughter, Jessica.

I was Jessica's Nursery School teacher many Moons ago, and so we all go back a long way.

However, Mukunda loves Frank. The second visit was the charm.

Because afterall, Frank gives Mukunda all the biscuits he could ever possibly want!

Coming To Terms With Mukunda's Mortality

Naturally, facing birth, life and death is all apart of living.

As a nurse, I take all of these junctures in stride, and help others to face the realities of this earthly plane.

But Mukunda was diagnosed with a terminal condition last week, and in the days there after, I was privileged to contemplate my life thus far with Mukunda.

I bought him a pink harness and walked slowly around the perimeters of my property. And did this anywhere from 2-5 times a day.

And still am doing it. In fact, I just came back from a walk that invigorated both of us and gave us a bounce and joy to every breath we take.

Today is 09/09/09. At exactly 0900 am we all prayed for the Good Energy of the Universe to permeate every cell of our bodies. Mukunda's body, too.

We are all connected. We are all immortal.

But earthly plane mortality is an illusion we just have to get used to.

My dog is a young dog. I know he won't be with us for a too long - perhaps 15 years so I enjoy him as much as I can.

I am remembering Mukunda as a puppy - playing ball in Dad's retirement home - always ready to go get the ball again and again and returning it to keep us all entertained. I am sure that he still loves to play and entertain. Please give him a big hug for me, and I will tell Quito and Dory about him. We will send energy and blessings.
    Love Ya,
    Syd

We had a 14 year old(year young!) Jack Russell Terrier named Speck that we had to put down 6 years ago. We burried her in the backyard and forget-me-nots bloomed there the next year all on there own! I still miss her at times, but we now have two young JRT's that fill the void. I'm rooting for you Muki!
