If you are wondering how multi-units work opposed to single dog units. This lens will help you understand better.

Using an electronic training collar with one dog is a fairly simply task. When your dog requires a correction, you only need to press a button to issue one. Your equipment is simple: one transmitter, and one receiver collar. If it's just you and your dog out there on the hunt or in the field, then this system is perfect for you. But for many people, hunting or working with multiple dogs is an essential part of what they do. In fact, for a great number of years, people seeking to train multiple dogs at the same time were forced to buy individual systems for each of their dogs, which was quite difficult and very impractical. Today, this is no longer an issue. That same handheld transmitter that you use to control one dog can be used to control numerous dogs. Some systems allow you to train up to one hundred dogs at once!

The Collar

With a multiple dog system, each dog must be given a different colored collar. Preferably, put the brightest colors on your worst-behaved dogs, and the more subtle colors can be placed on your best-behaved dogs. Each dog will have their own stimulator attached to the receiver on their collar. The stimulation issued, whether it be a tone, vibration, or a brief, painless electrical charge, is controlled from the handheld transmitter.

Transmitters

Transmitters for multiple dog systems are a little more complicated than for single dog systems. The transmitter controls the frequency, type, and intensity level of each correction. In order to do this, a selector switch must be turned to match the receiver collar of the dog you wish to correct. In this manner, you will need to change the dog selector switch each time you switch to a different dog. When doing so, ensure that the intensity level is correct for the new dog that you are switching to. Every dog is unique, and so stimulation levels for one dog might not necessarily work on another. This is why it is important to change to dog selector switch and the intensity each time you are working with a different animal.

Multi-dog collars are becoming more and more popular with professional trainers, and there are a number of systems available on the market for less than $300. Higher-end units can cost as much as $700 or more. Multiple electronic dog training collar systems have a wide variety of different options and features, so you should make sure that the system you buy meets all of your needs. Don't forget to take things like range, battery life, and durability into consideration when purchasing a multiple dog training system.
