Thanks for your very informative lens. I'm in the process of writing a picture book and stumbled across your Teaching with Picture Books blog which led me to this lens. I was interested in progressively publishing my picture book on the internet and this lens provides some great ideas on how this could be achieved. I am also a parent of a reluctant reader in grade 2 so some of your suggestions may spark an interesting.

I'm keen on trying some of these sites and will let you know.

Have you had any experience with authors publishing picture books on the web and successfully sharing their work? I'm not as interested in making money, but more about getting my message out.

Keith, I found recently that Tikatok isn't really free, as they want you to pay even for a pdf copy of your book. I couldn't see any way to save my book unless I paid for it. I'd love you to put me right on this if I have misunderstood, as I have a post coming up about it soon!

One I found recently that you don't have here is StoryJumper. (My description: http://www.thebookchook.com/2010/02/create-story-with-storyjumper.html ; the site: http://www.storyjumper.com/ ) Another, more low tech but using flickr too, site that I like is Tarheel Reader. http://tarheelreader.org/ And if you count Myths and Legends, then you would no doubt count Creaza, a truly fabulous place to explore. It has Cartoonist, Movie Maker, an audio editor and a mindmapping gizmo. Cartoonist enables kids to create a cartoon story similar to Myths and Legends.

Great lens, plenty of tools any writer would love to have. I just usually stick with pen and paper, but I fear one day; I'll have to move to the twenty first century. Lensrolled and voted.

I have used a few of these sites like Bubble to map out my ideas and Google Adsense Keyword, and I have played around with Sumo Paint. I just spend an hour or so checking out the other things you got going on here. I love the Glogger thingy. It is like making your own posters on anything, very awesome. Great lens 5* from me. Thanks!

This is one of the best overviews I've encountered when it comes to resources for young writers. Some of those sites I know are awesome (like Storybird) but there are quite a few here I will want to explore later.

Writing Fix is another site that I find so valuable that I check in on almost a daily basis.
