Multiple blogs on one Blogger blog
Many people would like to set up multiples blogs on one blog so that you have two separate pages of posts. It's commonly said this cannot be done, but it can.
I spent ages searching for a way to have two blogs on one Blogger blog. It's not so much mainteance issues but wanting to transition readers from one of my blogs to another. Nobody had an answer but it occurred to me that we can cheat...

How to have Multiple Blogs on One Blog?
Next you need your own domain name. There are plenty of cheap choices. It's probably better not to buy through Google/Blogger as they tend not to give you a great deal of control. A third party is probably better. I use 1and1.
Then set up two sub-domains using the instructions from the company you have used to register your domain. For example I registered phiz.me.uk (me.uk domains are very cheap - no more than about £3 a year) and created two sub-domains:
1) myblog.phiz.me.uk
2) thebanmoon.phiz.me.uk
Now use the option in Blogger to specify your own domain. It's in Settings on the Publishing tab. Choose the option for a custom domain and follow the instructions. You will also have to amend settings for the registration of your sub domain. The instructions on how to do this are on the Blogger page.
Finally change the top menu on both blogs to add tabs for both your new URLs - http://myblog1.xxx.xxx and http:// myblog2.xxx.xxx
You now have two blogs on one Blogger blog - apparently anyway.
It's Readers' Experience that Matters
Remember it's your readiers' experience that matters. They don't care what's going on underneath. So long as it looks like one site, that's how your readers will feel about it, whatever is going on technically.

What if You Don't Want to Register a Domain?
It's also possible of course to link to a blog on a completely different domain. For instance if you look at mine you will see if also links to http://kv64.info - my blog on the Valley of the Kings in Egypt.
Try it - you might even decide to become a regular visitor to my blog!

- Kate Phizackerley on Business
- This is my business blog. For a year it was sat separately as two Wordpress blogs but I took the difficult decision to bring it into the Blogger framework so that it can cross-pollenate with my other blogs.

Two Blogs on One Pane

Again this cannot strictly be done, but can be simulated. On the blog pane for PT Phiz I bring in a Wordpress blog into the main pane - the first post is the oil painting on the left; the Blogger blog is the newsfeed in the sidebar starting with All Change on the Layout Front in the picture. (If I was starting from scratch I wouldn't do it that way, but I have a blog on Wordpress and don't wish to migrate it.)
I bring it in with the Feedburner Buzzboost service. It's not quite ideal as you have to go to the Wordpress blog to leave comments; however, if it was another Blogger blog it could just swap to an indentical pane with that blog as the main blog and the other blog now in the sidebar. The user won't realise you are swapping between the two URLs. So far as the user is concerned, there are two blogs on one pane.
(Above the blogger blog is an Admin Panel to provide me with quick links to the main parts of the Blogger dashboard for that blog - like the Wordpress Meta block. It doesn't show for anybody other than me (conditional display) so you won't see it when you visit. This was a tip from BloggingTips - follow the link for instructions.)

- I do this with my podcast network edlisten.com. My problem is managing the gadgets. Is there a way to set up a shared gadget so that I can change it in one place and it will be replicated to all my blogs?

- I have a couple blogs on blogger, all together in one account. Actually I have a 3rd blog in a different account that I don't update anymore. I switched from self-hosted wordpress on my own server to blogger with a custom domain last year, and I'm still loving it!

- Interesting. I may look into this more closely, as I have two blogs on a related subject. It's just that one is personal (my Search and Rescue stories) and the other is more general (Search and Rescue topics). This would be a great way to bring the two together. I'll favorite this to look at again.

- Since doing it I managed to migrate 20% of my subscriptions (measured by Feedburner) from my Egypt blog to my personal blog. I also have had regular people clicking through and finding my Facebook connection. I've been very happy with the extra connections. It's not less work - I've another tip for that when I get round to writing it up!
Thanks for stopping by.
