Do You Buy Local?
Support your locally-owned small businesses!
What is your opinion of "buy local" and "shop local" campaigns?
Are they worth the effort to support your local friends and neighbors who own businesses in your town or city, or just a sign of businesses that can't compete, otherwise?
Are continent-spanning corporate conglomerates ruining small town America?
Would you rather get the lowest price possible or help keep your community strong and vibrant?

Do You Buy Local?
Fetching blurbs now... please stand byI support my community and buy from locally-owned businesses whenever possible.
poutine says:
Yes, I support my local businesses.
I only buy from a big store when I can't find
what I need in the small local shops.
Sometimes, I order online if there is something I want
and can't find it here.

johndilbeck says:
I always prefer to buy from a locally-owned business. I enjoy supporting my friends and neighbors who work hard to build a business and then face huge competition from national and international chains.
I go to Wal-Mart, for example, only three or four times per year, and then it's only to purchase things I can't buy in a locally-owned business.
Local businesses are the backbone of a healthy community and need to be supported, just as they give back to the community.

Not me. I want the lowest price and the best selection possible.
ChineseKitesforKids says:
I make a lot of purchases online for the best price. I'm a bargain shopper, what can I say? I hope that doesn't make me a monster? It's just time are hard and money is tight. I give my tithe but the rest is for me to budget and I just can't afford the small local shops. I do use the Farmer's Market all the time for fruits and veggies.
