Muscle Building Protein

Here you will learn the reason why proteins are so important for muscle building and why they are so much talked about by bodybuilders.

Bodybuilders tend to give a special attention to proteins, and that is because they are really important, but know how that can disturb you from getting results.

You are also going to learn a very strong relationship between fats and proteins that many people forget when planning their muscle building diet.

Supplements cannot be left behind when the subject is protein, they are everywhere and most supplements are related to proteins. For that reason I'm going to talk about them.

And this lens will end up with information of natural sources of proteins.

Why Proteins Are So Important?

Learn the reason why proteins are so important and spoken about.

Proteins are the building blocks of everyone's muscles.

When you see muscle growth happening, what you are really seeing is protein being added to your muscle cells, thus, making them bigger.

The biological process behind muscle growth is basically regeneration. I'm going to to simplify it for you here.

Lifting weights makes micro-cuts on your muscle cells, which activates the regeneration system. This system will fix the them by adding structural proteins in order to fill the empty spaces created by the micro-cuts. Since your regeneration system will normally add more protein than necessary, growth happens.

Proteins are so important because you don't build up muscles without them.

Proteins Are Important, But ...

"If proteins are so important, why focusing much on them can disturb me?"

Professional bodybuilders focus much on proteins for their reasons. If you are a professional bodybuilder, you probably have yours too. And in most of the times, the reason is simply this: the rest is very easy to take care of.

Controlling the amount of proteins a pro bodybuilder needs is something a little complicated to be done and it should be as exact as possible.

Notice that I've used exact and not much.

People read so much about proteins on magazines, they see so many ads on protein supplements, etc that most of them start thinking that the more protein the better. And that is not the case.

You need to find out what is the amount of proteins you need and stick with it. No more, no less.

Focusing on getting lots of proteins is a mistake because you will be getting more calories than what you need just from proteins. This additional amount of calories will be in excess, thus, making you fat.

The Important Relationship Between Fats And Proteins So Many Times Missed

Healthy fats (such as the ones from olive oil and nuts) have important features that will help your body in a huge list of functions. One of those functions is protein absorption.

You can be wasting up to 60% of the proteins you consume if you don't consume fats properly - in the amounts that you need. Evidently, wasting something closer to 60% is an extreme case, but it can happen.

Even fats being so important in protein use, keep in mind that in order to have a proper protein use, you need an appropriate nutrition and not just healthy fats.

Why Supplements And Proteins Are So Related

Learn why supplements make so much success when made up to provide proteins.

In a previous section of this page I've told you that professional bodybuilders want exact protein intake.

It's very hard to know exactly how many proteins you are consuming if you get them from food (not impossible though).

It's possible for the supplement industry to pack up exact and measurable amounts of proteins into pills or to produce a powder having a concentration of 80% of protein in every Y grams.

It's not hard to see that having such a facility helps pro bodybuilders having what they want: exact protein intake

Let's say a pro bodybuilder wants 20 grams of proteins. He can look at the nutritional information of a given supplement ha has and see how many grams of that supplement he needs in order to have an intake of 20 grams of programs. And he is pretty much done with that.

In order to get 20 grams of proteins from normal food, you'd have to cook the food, add more ingredients (most of the times you add ingredients to the food in order to cook it), etc. It's very easy to lose track of what you're consuming.

Natural Sources Of Proteins

Learn where to find proteins in food.

There is no secret natural source of protein that will give astonishing results.

Basically red meat, tuna and chicken are the most used because of both their nutritional value and because of the taste (it's possible to make very good meals using those foods).
