Motivation for Writing

What's your Motivation for Writing? Your Muse?

I have been thinking a lot lately about my personal motivation to write -- the source of inspiration or my muse for writing. I have more than one, as lots of writers do, but began wondering how I compare to other writers and found myself asking, "What motivates other writers to write and what do they write?"

This list of possibilities seems endless but interesting enough to warrant further investigation. While this list is not all inclusive, it may give you an idea of what type of writer you are if you search your heart and mind.

Read the example below and then answer the poll at the end of this article. My Question to you is:

"What motivates you to write? "

Charity/Awareness Motivation

CharityYour main motivation to write is promoting a specific non-profit organization such as:

  • disease research

  • protecting animals

  • kids and family life

or spreading an awareness that society needs to act on or embrace such as:

  • green living

  • homelessness

  • world hunger

You are passionate about this and spend most of your time writing stories about it or giving specific examples to enlighten the masses. You are passionate about your cause.

Charity or Awareness

Which is your writing muse?

Charity - I write about a charity/non-profit organization I am passionate about.

chemknitsblog says:

I suppose that I am more likely to write about Charities that I am involved with. This doesn't mean that I don't think that awareness is important (it's VERY important), but I consider part of my role in contributing to a charity to help spread the word about it.

BuckHawk says:

No big surprise here. It's my favorite charity that consumes most of my writing.

Awareness - My main inspiration in writing is to make others aware of this cause and to be a proactive participant.

ajgodinho says:

I write for both, but I think it's more towards spreading awareness!

masz09 says:

awareness...through awareness, I give people information and I received more information and thus able to help

surgimesh says:

You know, awareness does more than charity.

TapIn2U says:

What motivates me to write are stories of real people facing real issues. Also, strong emotions like love, happiness, or the opposite, sadness.

capriliz says:

Awareness - sometimes that means pointing out products and benefits to people.

tssfacts says:

Tough question it's a mixture for me. But I would have to say that awareness might just win by an nano second. Awareness is great way to enter the charity realm too.

The Courage to Write: How Writers Transcend Fear

I am Motivated/Inspired to Write...

GenreYour imagination is filled with fantasy, romance, mystery, horror, poetry, songs or a certain era of stories fighting to get out. The words and tales demand to be written down before they are lost.

You write of times, places you have visited, lives you have fantasized about and characters come to life in your mind as a movie. You follow these characters through their trials, accomplishments and everyday lives to see where they end up.

When I started writing on Squidoo, 2 years ago, I didn't know that one could make money doing so. I thought it was a phenomenal concept of getting this free platform to share about one's interests and passions! Now I've learned to leverage both and I'm enjoying the journey while doing it at my own pace! **Lucky Leprechaun Blessing**

I have so many things in my mind, and as I'm not good speaker or i'm too direct, it is much better for me to write it down.
