Mushroom Kits More Than a Unique Gift Idea
Mushroom Kits
This lens is not meant to be an exhaustive study about herbal and medicinal mushrooms, nor the trial and tribulations associated with growing them from scratch but a fun lens to show the easiest way to experience the cultivation of herbal and medicinal mushrooms from home. No doubt, cultivating them with a fully loaded mushroom kit has got to be the simplest way.
How simple is it just to mist your mushroom kit a couple of times a day (amount varies per kit)? Children find it fascinating to watch the fruiting bodies or flushes of mushrooms suddenly appear and they learn so much by diving in and actively participating in the actual growing process.
Educational and fun, growing mushrooms from a kit is one of the most unique gifts ideas for children (adults too). Harvest them to make any holiday meal that much more special. Once you're done harvesting, the remaining mycelium bed makes for excellent compost in your garden. Mushroom kits just keep on giving.

- i like it but there is nothing about growing the actual mushrooms the title should be about medicinal mushrooms. there is alot more to growing them and one would surly fail with a kit and not knowing what they were doing.

- Hi tipsyquo. That's an interesting twist that I hadn't thought my lens projected nor has anyone brought that up in the couple of years or so that this lens has been up. But you make a valid point and I have tweaked the title a bit in lieu of what you have brought up.
My lens is for the health conscious home enthusiast who may be interested in growing shiitake or other medicinal and herbal mushrooms but, and I think you can agree that growing mushrooms from scratch is not an easy process. Therefore, this lens focuses on growing them from mushroom kits. I would like this lens to provide a userfriendly way to grow them at home. Thanks for commenting. I appreciate it.

- I probably could grow mushrooms. Good idea. I understand to get the full nutrition from mushrooms, you need to cook them.

- If you get these kits, they will be a breeze to grow. As for getting the full nutrition from mushrooms by cooking them. Don't let the raw foods people hear that one. I'm not a nutritionist but I don't think that cooking anything has more health benefits than eating raw. But that's just my opinion.

- I just read my comment. What was I thinking! Let me add that some mushrooms and fungi must be cooked or they are pretty inedible. In it's natural state, some mushrooms are tough as wood so unless you are a beaver, it may be difficult to consume without cooking.

- I have used the mushroom kits and they work great as long as you have a dark place to use for cultivation A dark closet will work for lack of a better place. Eating fresh mushrooms either raw or stir-fried every day is an easy way to promote healthier bodies
