The Gibson Custom 1968 Les Paul Custom Flame Top electric guitar is one of those instruments you dream about as a kid and thanks to Gibson's Custom Shop we can enjoy this beautiful vintage guitar without closing our eyes. The guitar's '57 Classic humbuckers deliver such a rich tone you'd think you'd curled up in a jar of molasses and had your face licked clean by an angel - (I don't know what that means either but it sounded nice when it rolled off my fingers) The Gibson '68 Les Paul Custom reissue is available in several beautiful styles including the Antique Natural pictured at right, as well as a stunning Triburst and a rich golden Washed Cherry. I was just drooling over the 1952 Gibson Les Paul Standard Gold Top guitar auction I saw on ebay for a mere $45,000. The Les Paul Standard Guitar debuted in 1952 as Gibson's first solidbody guitar, and has evolved over the course of time to represent the benchmark for all electric guitars. And the Gibson Les Paul Standard Gold Top electric guitar particularly is another one of those instruments I would dream about as a kid. Its rich melted butter gold top shines like the bucket of gold at the end of the rainbow, and the sound is equally rich in treasure. I may not have the funds to pick up an original but modern renditions of the Gibson Les Paul Standard Electric Guitar can be enjoyed for a fraction of the price. Sure it is still a bit heavy in the pocket but for me it is well worth saving up for.
