Music for your Road Trip

When we took our last vacation, there was a LOT of driving involved. A LOT.

ROAD TRIP!

Everyone knows you need proper music for a road trip to get you in the mood. And we were pretty sure that radio reception was going to be spotty in a lot of those areas. We took it upon ourselves to compile a list of songs for the drive. Every day we started driving, CD number one would get thrown in, and we'd all get moving to "Rollin', Rollin', Rollin'" the theme from Rawhide. Silly, but it works. The rest of the songs cross genres, but all are related to travel or the road.

Feel free to give us suggestions... We would love to expand the list.
Create your own CD's... or load the songs onto your Ipod.

Meanwhile, enjoy!

Traveling tends to magnify all human emotions.

Rawhide

Get 'em up, Move 'em out!

I love the Rawhide theme song... it is a perfect get-up and get-moving tune. This for me dates back to a bus trip I took in College... every morning the group leader would blast his cassette of Rawhide over the stereo system.

It got us moving...

Road Trip!

Glacier and Yellowstone

Our most recent road trip was a drive from California up through Oregon and Idaho to Glacier National Park in Montana. After spending a few days there, we headed south to Yellowstone. After Yellowstone, we cut through the Grand Tetons and south to Kemmerer, Wyoming, home of Fossil Butte National Monument. Then it was west on the 80 to home.

Why run the risk of wrecking your Ipod or MP3 player? You know you want to blast the "ride of the valkyries" as you blast down the rapids....

well, at least you want to know you could if you wanted to.

Another Road Trip

Bryce, Zion, Grand Canyon

A few years ago we took a great trip through the Southwest. We started in the San Francisco Bay Area, and headed west on the 80 across the top of Nevada and Utah to Dinosaur National Monument. After a few great days, we backtracked a bit, then headed south to Delta Utah for a trilobite dig. Then south again, and a little east to Bryce Canyon National Park. Then south again to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. A big hole (not as interesting to the kids as the Kennecot Copper Mine outside Salt Lake City... that big hole had giant trucks and explosions!!!!). Slightly north and west to Zion National Park. I loved Zion.... Then ViVA Las Vegas for a few days at the Mandalay Bay Resort. Whew! Clean clothes and we washed off a bit in the pools. Then across the Mojave desert and north to Sequioa to see the really big trees. Finally, up the 99 to home. Quite a journey.

Go Old School... Make a Mix CD

Like the Mix Tapes we made as kids...

Remember those days? Before Ipods? You put together a Mix-tape for a friend... capturing songs from the radio or record player and setting up that perfect song list for yourself and your friends.

Now you can make a Mix CD... just takes a few simple tools.

This is what we for a lot of our trips... it's fun to do, and you can loan them out.

I have a traveling music CD. It's all upbeat songs portraying strong women, by women. Time to get it polished up...I'm heading out this weekend, driving across the country to CA.

Wide Open Spaces and On the Road Again are two staples I've always had in my Road Trip Music list.

"Roll Me Away" by Bob Seger. We ALWAYS play this one at the start of any road trip! "Took a look down a westbound road, right away I made my choice..." My absolute FAVORITE, but then I love just about anything by Bob Seger!
