I have been having a heck of a time with getting a music player back into one of my Halloween lenses, and still having trouble with getting the yahoo player to work. I miss the playlist being on my site. Is there any chance of getting an app like yahoo pulse 'gigya' or a module that will allow the giga or playlist to work?

Appreciated this guide to music options. Is it possible to add e-books via the iTunes module? I have not had success listing electronic books. Any advice?
  • thefluffanutta Aug 15, 2011 @ 5:46 pm | delete
Its's only possible to add music to the iTunes module, I'm afraid. No apps, videos or eBooks.

Thanks for the great tips, I have never used the Yahoo music settings, will surely explore.

    Hello,

I just viewed your lens. I have something similar which on here http://www.squidoo.com/midnightstarr. Mine is all about Creating Your Own Online Radio Station.

However, I did notice something with your Amazon. When I did my podcast, I used Audacity. Audacity is a totally free software.

When I became a Broadcast student, we mostly used Adobe Audition and we learned Pro Tools (Which is for Mac).

John Cage 4'33'' to keep the iTunes module quiet...I love it - but the ITunes bug was fixed wasn't it?
  • madoc Feb 27, 2012 @ 11:22 pm | delete
Great idea! I've always wondered - does Cage's masterwork 4'33" earn royalties?

YMP now does videos, any chance of upgrading the Squidoo one?
  • thefluffanutta Apr 8, 2011 @ 11:27 am | delete
Squidoo now supports the playing of Yahoo! and YouTube videos with the Yahoo! Media Player. :o)

There is a lot here that I didn't know about. Thanks for making this informative lens.

I just tried to put a Grooveshark widget on a lens and got nothing. I tried to put the code in a text module since there isn't a Clearspring module (although I still have one on an old lens from last year) and there was nothing in it when I saved the module. Any ideas? Thanks.

  • lizziebeth Sep 30, 2010 @ 12:11 am | delete
This is great information. I was curious to see how to do this when I saw your lens title. Thanks for showing me.
  • AdrienneJenkins Sep 16, 2010 @ 8:15 am | delete
As much as l like the idea of including music I end up annoying myself when I edit and preview lenses and music stars playing.
  • purplelady Sep 16, 2010 @ 12:08 am | delete
This has answered a lot of questions of mine. I will know where to check back when I have more.
  • purplelady Sep 16, 2010 @ 12:06 am | delete
Since I am new to putting music on my lenses; this is great. I will check back if and when I move past where I am now. Thanks Fluff; I can always count on you.

  • SandraRose Sep 9, 2010 @ 7:18 am | delete
This is great information. When I get a few minutes, I will go through this in detail and create a lens to allow for this music. You do make it sound easy!

Awsome Lens :) I've lensrolled this to my "How To Add Audio Articles To Your Lens Using Dropbox" lens

Cool! ~ I was just browsing the Top 100 list in Squidoo Tips and saw this title of interest. Thanks for the instructions on how-to use the Music module fluff. x

This is just what I need for a new lens I am doing and I can't find any You-Tube videos for a song. I'm just confused about where to go to upload the files. What are your recommendations?
  • LoKackl Apr 30, 2010 @ 8:03 am | delete
Thanks for doing this lens - especially for those of us (a-hem) who are techically challenged! SquidAngel Blessed.
  • Heather426 Mar 31, 2010 @ 6:08 pm | delete
So wonderful of you to post this and all your helpful advice on the squidoo platform. Thanks!!!
  • Kangaroo_Jase Mar 31, 2010 @ 5:09 am | delete
Again, a great, easy to digest and very informative lens, Fluff. You make the information so handy, yet as simple as 1, 2, 3.
  • Pukeko Mar 30, 2010 @ 4:58 pm | delete
Thanks for this lens! It will help heaps in figuring out the music module.
  • Kylyssa Mar 30, 2010 @ 11:10 am | delete
Thank you ever so much for this lens! What I'd like to see is the ability to directly upload my mp3 to a module. I have a lens about my partner that is ready to go up except for the music. He registered to put his music up on a couple of sites but there's been nothing but the original auto-response on either so far.
  • d-artist Mar 30, 2010 @ 8:50 am | delete
wow I have a lot to learn! thanks for your input and hope to get to a point that I understand without frustrations...this is something I want to look into since I have always thought something like this would be a good thing to have on squidoo...of course a 5* lens
  • Ener-G Mar 27, 2010 @ 2:55 pm | delete
I have my audio files uploaded on box.net. Do I just use the code they give me for sharing an audio file? (That would be so simple!)
  • thefluffanutta Mar 27, 2010 @ 5:19 pm | delete
Why don't you try it, and let us know if it works... :o)
  • BarbRad Mar 26, 2010 @ 10:38 pm | delete
I'm still a bit confused since I haven't ever bought anything MP3 on line nor used I-Tunes. I did buy an MP3 player, but so far I've only used the earbuds at the gym to listen to the sound for their TVs when I work out. I'll have to go over this again when I have more time. I can see where this will be very useful to those who do a lot of music related lenses, and I hope I'll be brave enough to try using this myself someday soon.
  • NaturalMommys Mar 26, 2010 @ 5:34 pm | delete
Its very nice to have this feature, thanks for the input!
  • Geeve Mar 26, 2010 @ 4:58 am | delete
On the button Fluff. I think the path to this lens will get well worn with traffic.

Thanks for your advice! I'm looking forward to adding music to my lenses. :D
  • Rewards4life Mar 15, 2010 @ 6:02 pm | delete
Love the idea, I write a lot of music myself, well used to when I had more time. Hopefully having this will inspire me to start again. This could be a fantastic opportunity, I would love to be a part of. Thanks
  • Kylyssa Mar 8, 2010 @ 8:12 pm | delete
I'd love a module that I could upload some samples of my partner's music to and allow people to click and listen. I don't exactly know what features I'd want for it, though.
  • triathlontraining Feb 22, 2010 @ 2:52 pm | delete
I like the idea of providing music if the person wants to listen to it. Background music is very annoying, especially if someone is listening to music already via their computer.
  • clouda9 Feb 21, 2010 @ 10:05 am | delete
I voted for Playlist - currently what I use on my lenses that play music. I like the option of playing the music right on the lens and then offering tracks for sale through Amazon, iTunes, etc. Thanks for putting this together - letting us give our feedback.
  • charlino Feb 20, 2010 @ 11:39 am | delete
Thank you , thank you , thank you. I only have a couple lenses with ClearSpring widgets, but they are well purposed. I will definitely miss ClearSpring for this, and wish there were a replacement in place prior to their just turning everything off. Does anyone know anything about ClearSpring's replacement?
  • giltotherescue Feb 22, 2010 @ 7:58 pm | delete
Our goal is to have replacements for at least some of the popular Clearspring widgets before turning Clearspring off.
  • smange Feb 20, 2010 @ 4:23 am | delete
Grooveshark (because it used to work and therefore should be one of the easier options), Last.fm and blip.fm

Also, maybe support creative commons music by doing jamendo.com
  • Not-Pop Mar 28, 2010 @ 11:17 am | delete
I'm a massive fan of Grooveshark and love the variety that they have available. I think it would be lovely to have a way to post songs that DON'T require you to upload somewhere when the song is already on an existing network. The Shark has rarely let me down when looking for a song and their widgets are streamlined and customizable. Maybe someday...
  • Timewarp Feb 18, 2010 @ 5:50 pm | delete
I voted for SoundCloud because they let you upload long files such as DJ sets ... also advanced web2.0 features and community.
  • LivingInParis Feb 18, 2010 @ 2:49 pm | delete
Thanks for putting this together. I'm with GrowWear -- I want a way for visitors to play the entire song on the lens. I also want to sell the songs I recommend. I know it's wishful thinking, but it would be cool to accomplish both in one module vs. having one module to listen and a separate module to buy.
  • JenniferAkers Feb 18, 2010 @ 12:45 am | delete
First, you are amazing! Thank you for addressing the problem. I have a few music lenses, and I like to introduce the artists by having music samples. I'd like add tracks / albums for visitors to buy. I've been using Amazon, iTunes, and YouTube, so perhaps I don't fit the criteria of others who add music outside of those three ways. I also agree with a few of the other lensmasters who don't want music to play immediately when the page loads. I find that distracting myself when I visit sites.
  • OhMe Feb 17, 2010 @ 12:35 pm | delete
Right now I have two lenses that play music automatically - one is Christmas and one is Patriotic. The visitor has the option to pause the music but otherwise it adds to the lens, I think. I would like to continue to offer this type of background music. Thank you so much for all you do for Squidoo. You are amazing.
  • Pastiche Feb 17, 2010 @ 9:38 am | delete
I would love a controlled music-for-mood-setting player - I don't want music to ever start automatically ... it drives people crazy and they click to leave. As a visitor to a music lens, particularly a review or indie music artist lens, I would like to be able to listen to selected songs and possibly save them for my MP3 player. As a lensmaster I would like to have the option available for legal distro of indie music tracks.
  • Caseyfern Feb 17, 2010 @ 9:19 am | delete
As always, you give far more than you take, 'fluff. Thank you.
  • Not-Pop Feb 16, 2010 @ 9:10 pm | delete
I would heart you forever if you can save Grooveshark's playlists from certain doom. They haven't responded to my queries and I have so many... [sniff]
  • ChapelHillFiddler Feb 16, 2010 @ 8:50 pm | delete
I'm going to give up on squidoo entirely if I can't have an easy-enough way to put my music tracks (which are stored on my own servers) on lenses. I would like to put single tracks, but would also like to put a playlist of our tunes from time to time. I like and use Wimpy p;ayer on my websites, but I think Yahoo media player is easier. Thank you for tackling this!
  • Waxing-Lyrical Feb 16, 2010 @ 8:11 pm | delete
I really hope that some kind of module or widget can be added. Thanks for providing a place for feedback
  • GrowWear Feb 16, 2010 @ 6:57 pm | delete
I voted for PlayList, but I also want to sell the music I recommend. I also want the reader t be able to hear the entire song. Oh, and I agree with Kab -- must have the ability to to have it not come on at page load. On and off by reader. ...This is great, Fluff! Thank you.
  • _Joan_ Feb 16, 2010 @ 4:57 pm | delete
I'm so glad that you're addressing this issue. Thank you!
  • hollandnumerics Feb 16, 2010 @ 2:17 pm | delete
I'm not too bothered about adding music to my lenses, but I would be interested in adding audio commentary and instructions.
  • kab Feb 16, 2010 @ 1:42 pm | delete
I wish that if this module is used for background music, that it doesn't just start when the page is loaded, but that the user has to hit play first. I am always listening to something already, and nothing makes me hit back quite like music or voice starting up when I open a page.
  • badmsm Feb 16, 2010 @ 1:22 pm | delete
OOO, hope you get this goingn Fluff! It would be a real asset to Squidoo!
