Music as a Muse

Music is capable of so much more than just entertainment. I usually listen to music to inspire me to create in any medium. Music has a way to lift layers that cloud and mist ideas that almost always surface quickly once evoked.

One of my "go to" CD's is by a local singer Wendy Luella Perkins. It's not just her voice, its the lyrics she has written, simple words that brings clarity and light into the room. Our monthly Soulful Singing gatherings are a reminder of how music is the perfect way to celebrate living.

Wendy Luella Perkins

Check out Wendy's website!"Singer-songwriter Wendy Luella Perkins is a hidden gem on the Canadian folk music scene. Her songs offer glimpses into the simple joys and small tragedies of day-to-day living. Folks can't help but sing along to her catchy choruses, which leave listeners with good vibrations all-around."

Soulful Singing%u2122 is all embracing , nurturing and awakens the connection we have with one another. I really appreciate the time we spend together singing, incorporating rhythmic instruments in the moment, the tea, treats and conversation afterwards an extension of renewing and rejoicing the friendships we are gifted with.

I love the spontaneity and creative nature of the group and of course our group leader Wendy, who sets the tone. If you can't Soulful Sing with the group, then pick up one of Wendy's CD's and sing along while you do the dishes.

Not Your Average New Age music

I've had this CD for eight years. It was the CD that I played during three of my births and listen to often. One of my favourite songs on this CD is "The End of Suffering" sung by Vietnamese monk, Phap Niem, music by Gary Malkin. The version I have posted below in the YouTube video is from the CD "Graceful Passages" a collection of various spiritual teacher from several religions, talking and giving advice to the dying. On this CD, "The End of Suffering" sung by Vietnamese monk, Phap Niem, music by Gary Malkin has spoken word from Thich Nhat Hanh.
