Pip's All Time Favorite Songs

Music means the world to me.

It has the power to create stronger emotion inside me than anything else external is capable of... and when I find a song that touches the deepest parts of me... it can be like something almost supernatural has happened.

Music for me is like the soundtrack to love in all forms. I believe Love is IT and music is it's soundtrack through life.

I'm listing below my ALL Time favorite songs... the one's that I listen to over and over and over and always come back to. These are songs that mean a great deal to me... whether for the lyrics, the voice, the music or the sound all together.

As you'll notice I do not have any one style, genre or musician that I like the best. I'm a person that keeps an open heart and mind to music from wherever it may be and if it touches my heart then I consider it a gift... whether it's rap or an opera song sung by a Nun!

The design above is my own creation which you can view here - http://www.redbubble.com/people/pippiphooray/art/5672518-2-the-passage-of-good-music

Working Class Hero - John Lennon

These are definitely my all time favorite John Lennon songs....

I'd class Working Class Hero as one of the most infuential and important songs to me!

I love John for his truth... for his wisdom and for his talent! WHAT A MAN!!

Watching the Wheels

And Watching the Wheels I find myself really relating to... and it has such a gorgeous melody too. Another result of John Lennon's genius.
Loading

Blackbird - The Beatles

This is very rare footage of Paul jammin' when he's first writing and creating the song Blackbird. It's here you can see for sure that the tapping in the song is from Paul's shoes.

I believe this incredible film clip is a small clip of the genius that was Paul McCartney.
His genius... partnered with John's genius created so much of the best music ever created!

Beautiful by Carole King

I started listening to this song when I was about 13 years old using my Mum's vinyl LP Tapestry record.

Since that day it has always been the most powerful and most beautiful song to me. If you ask my brother he'd probably tell you how annoying I was at one stage because of how often I played it :)

This song is ME... that's how I feel anyway.. it's truly how I feel and it's truly what I do each and every day (well at least try to do). I always felt like this song was a confirmation to me... almost like a pat on a back as well as a guide for me to stay focused on smiling to the world and showing all the love in my heart. :)

This song means so very much to me and I would defintely say it was the first favourite song I ever had in my life.

Everything is Good For You if it Doesn't Kill You.

This song has been my own personal anthem since I was 19 years old when I first bought the brilliant Crowded House album 'Recurring Dream'.

I've used it many a time to get me through hard times and I'll use it plenty more in the future!

To me this song tells me... no matter what happens in life... it's ok... at least it didn't kill you... keep going!

I'll Be Loving You Always - Stevie Wonder

The words to this song are just so beautiful... I believe they describe unconditional love! The kind we all need in our lives and the kind we all must give in order to receive it!

Reminiscing by The Little River Band

All my friends and family tell me all the time that I'm a hopeless reminiscer! I can't help it... I just love to take trips down memory lane whenever and wherever I can... and I feel like this song is my soundtrack to those journeys :)

An oldie... but an oh so goodie :)

NB - unfortunately Youtube restrictions would not allow me to post the original music video from the song so if you want to watch just search the song directly via youtube.

Train to Nowhere - Savoy Brown

My older brother introduced this song to me and it moved me from the first time I heard it.

It's a Jazz Blues song from the 60's.. it's just sensational!!

Savoy Brown's album Raw Sienna is so cool if you're looking for awesome Jazz Blues!

Since my brother died this song has been my way of feeling him when I need to... I listen to it and think of him.

Into the Mystic by Van Morrison

There's just something so beautiful about this song... I absolutely adore it and have for over 10 years. I can listen to it over and over!

For me Led Zeppelin is not about Stairway to Heaven...

it's about 'That's the Way'...

Arms of an Angel - Sarah Maclachlan

This song sends shivers up my spine every time.
I listen to this song... a lot... it's a very positive song for me... it uplifts me... it re-charges my purpose!

I remember when I first heard it and how I was instantly in love with it... but then after researching about it... It was made even more special to me when I found out what the lyrics where actually about and why Sarah Machlachlan wrote it.

She wrote it after reading a Rolling Stone article about a musician turning to heroin and subsequently overdosing. She said she could completely relate because although she'd never done heroin... she'd done plenty of other things to try and run away from pain and responsibility.

Quoting Sarah:
"I've been in that place... where you're so fuc$ed up and you're so lost that you don't know who you are anymore, and you're miserable.. and suddenly here before you is an escape route. I've never done heroin... but I"ve done plenty of things to escape."

She has said previously that this song is about "trying not to take responsibility for other people's $hit and trying to love yourself at the same time"

Well...I completely relate on every level. Not only does her stunning voice touch a deep part of me.. but the words and meaning mean even more because I ran from my pain in my early 20's! I ran for a long time! I still struggle from time to time... feeling myself starting to take the direction of wanting to run and not confronting my feelings but thankfully I've now learned enough and am in a strong enough place that I know I'll never run like I did again!

Don't Fear the Reaper - Blue Oyster Cult

There's just something about this song that I love so much.

I do have a strong belief that fear is what cripples us so I guess this song reminds me of my beliefs and re-inforces that I should always try not not to let the fear control me.
