Vocal Scores or Vocal Selections?
Depending on the songs you are looking for and how much you want to spend, you can pick the vocal score of a show or just the vocal selections. Vocal scores contain all of the songs from any given show. They generally range from $35-$100, depending on the show. Vocal selections don't have every song from the show, just the most popular songs. It is rare for a vocal selections book to cost more than $20.There are also some great music books that have songs from multiple shows and for various voice parts. I am a big fan of the Singer's Musical Theater Anthologies. They have multiple books for each voice part. You can also buy sets that come with accompaniment CDs.

- Well, according to the Singer's Anthologies there are no true altos I guess. It's all about belting these days. :-) I swear, the older I get, the lower I can sing though.
