You most probably answered this question when you decided to learn the piano. What is your purpose for learning the piano notes?
In fact why choose any musical instrument to learn.
1. You inherited a piano and thought it would be great to try .
2. To play for fun and relaxation at home.
3. To play piano duets with a friend. This gives you a great excuse to have fun playing music together followed by a cuppa and a chat.
4. To play in a small orchestra for the annual production of your local musical theatre group..
5. As a money earner
a. playing at pubs, weddings or a 25th anniversary of the local Highland Dance Club, in a small group like a band or chamber group depending on you tastes in music. Of
course you can find a group of people to play with on a regular basis for fun as a hobby.
b. accompaning other instruments or singers for practical examinations or concerts.
c. teaching the piano. This is great if you have a young family because you can do it at home at a time to suit you and your student.
d. eventually be a concert pianist and steal the limelight. Playing a solo or a piano concerto with an orchestra could be just your style.
Whatever your reason for learning the piano notes, you will need a method to help you.
What Method Will Help With You Learning The Piano Notes?
Below are several options you can choose from.
1. Using a Piano Teacher
Why not find a suitable piano teacher in your area if you can afford the weekly lesson costs. The benefit of this is that:
1. it can push you to put some effort into practice between lessons. This will in turn make the learning of the piano notes easier at a faster rate. And your inpiration levels will be higher.
2. you will be getting regular feedback - both positive and constructive.
3. you may get performance opportunities with your teacher who may provide regular 'pupil concerts' for friends and relatives to attend or who may give you a chance to do a practical examination.
It is great to have a goal to work towards such as a performance and it can give you a chance for feedback from other sources other than you
teacher. And once the performance is over you can start learning the piano notes on another piece of music.
The teacher is pointing out something on the music.Maybe the student got a note wrong.
Look at the student's great hand position.

2. Teaching Yourself
There are two options here to choose from.
Method A: Tutor Books and YouTube.
Tutor Book: As a beginner you will need guidance to help in your learning the piano notes. A tutor book gives you step by step instructions so you can build up your repetoire of piano notes at your own pace. The Alfred Series is great for students of all ages.Take a look here for a younger beginners book.
YouTube: You can search for any piece of music and then listen to variety of options. This gives you an idea of how other people interpret the piece eg speed, dynamics. You can then take what you like and make the piece of music 'your own'.
A YouTube example for Beginners- Learning The Piano Notes in Under 10 minutes
This video gives you an outline of the piano and how to get started learning notes, chords and simple pieces. It is great to take a look at this along with your tutor book.
This method is good if you are:
1. on a budget - you only need to buy the music you are working on.
2. if you live miles away from a music teacher.
3. if you don't want to be tied down to a weekly piano lesson. Maybe you have irregular working hours.
The disadvantage with this method is that you are not getting regular input from a specialist piano teacher and maybe getting into bad habits eg bad sitting posture or hand position.

- I agree with you that Youtube is a great place to find just about any song you wish to learn to play. Just last night, I thought of the song, Wreck of Number 9. I used to sing it, but had not thought of it for a long time. So, I searched Youtube, found it easily, and was playing it on my keyboard before the evening was over!w
