Everyone needs a Coach, from a top executive to a struggling musician. Find out how having a dedicated Coach will increase your potential by helping you focus on what you want, setting action steps and encouraging you to act on them.
Having been a musician, I understand the frustrations and disappointments involved in the music industry. I am also aware of the lack of non judgmental support there is, so imagine to be able to talk to someone on a regular basis, share your dreams and fears with. Someone fighting your corner, someone who has your passion for music and who can help you plan a route to be the best you can be...

5 Essential Lessons to 'Supercharge' your music career

Lesson 1

Hi, I'm just guessing but if you're reading this, it means you're really serious about a career in the music business, right? So you also probably know that having talent alone doesn't guarantee you the dream of success either. Research has shown that if you have a written goal and take action towards that goal your chances of success rise by 95%......I know, its crazy isn't it? There will be cynics out there who may say 'Yes but having a wish list, is like writing to Father Christmas'. Well the answer is No, its not. Why? Because I have witnessed it, where people have made huge leaps towards their dreams, just by having written goals and taking the relevant actions needed to achieve them..no B/S
To begin with, I would like to ask you some very important questions and for you to answer them honestly. Listen to your internal voice, you know, the one that whispers to you, especially when you have an important decision to make or sitting quietly.The important thing here is to grab yourself a notepad and write your answers down.....ok here we go;

Question;
What do you really want to achieve in your music career? Try and be really specific.

Question;
How will it look and feel to achieve this?

How does that feel to have that written down in front of you, rather than it all jumbled around in your head?

Lesson 2

What you've written will be the basis of your goal to the success in your music career you dream of.

Next, let's look at where you are now on this journey to what you want. Pretend your writing a letter to me to let me know everything you've accomplished so far towards your success. Don't worry if you think you haven't done much because these questions may help prompt some ideas.

Do you play an instrument? When did you start loving music?

Have you had any formal training?

Have you written any songs?

Have you performed music anywhere? If so, where?

What problems have you overcome in your music career?

Have you recorded your music?

How do you know you're good at what you do?
So begin the letter,

Dear Arran,

I................

Need more paper,fantastic..go get some!!

What is it like to see your successes written down?

Lesson 3

Next time you feel like giving up, I want you to read what you've just written and bloody smile!! You're doing great!!

So, you've been busy by the looks of it. Has it all been deliberate, or was it just by chance?

I want you to think now, of someone in the music business you admire or would wish to be? What do you think underlies their success? What parts of their personality do you have?
What kind of personality traits do you need to have to become more like the successful person you're thinking of?
More motivated? More self confidence? More dedication to your art? More self belief?
Only you know the answers and remember listen to that internal voice .
How much do you want this goal of music success?

Measure it on a scale of 1 - 10 how much do you want it?

Are you scoring higher than 5? If so, then your half way there! What would drive you to make it even higher? What's stopping you?

One key element to success is the role of responsibility.
If you are blaming others or situations for your lack of success, then as a friend I urge you to STOP RIGHT NOW!

From this point on it's up to you to make it happen.

Everyone has something...

Lesson 4

I'm sure you've heard of stories of how successful people have made it and it wasn't always an easy ride for them. Very often they would face challenges and fail, but they didn't give up they just got up and tried again. Richard Branson is a great example, and look at how successful he's become!!
Ok, well let's get on with setting you a strategy for your music success.

What I want you to do now is to think of what resources you already have available to you and how they can help your music career.
Here are some questions that may help you to understand what I'm getting at.

What internal resources do you personally have that will help you succeed in music?(motivation, talent, great voice etc)

What external resources do you have at your disposal?( manager, equipment, supportive family etc)

What resources do you need to acquire or source?( Gigs, fan base, demo, record deal)

Who could help you source these?

Now fill in these...

Questions;

Internal Resources...

External Resources...

I need to source...

Who can help me?...

How are you doing? Is all this work getting too much for you? Are you determined enough to finish this worksheet?

Of course you are ..go on

I liked this guys attitude!

Lets make a plan...

Lesson 5

Next up is to set you some action steps towards your goal of music success.

Answer yourself this,

Want do you need to do next in order to get yourself closer to achieving your goal?

When can you have this done by? Tomorrow? Next Tuesday? Be specific

Write a list of the next logical steps you need to achieve and give them a due date.

My advice is to set yourself action steps each week to achieve..stick it on your fridge and tick them off when you have done them. Go for it and keep the momentum going

This stuff really works!!

There is a lot more to having a coach than setting goals but this method of visualising your future is very powerful. I recommend you write out your goal again and this time write it in the present tense and give it a date of when you want it to happen by.

This process is used in many NLP industries and uses the concept that your brain is unaware of what 'real life' is and what is yet to happen. Your sub-conscious is a very powerful instrument and if you learn to play it, it can produce amazing results in getting you what you want.

So begin with..

It is now 27th April 2009 and I have achieved my goal of signing a record contract with Warner. Etc
Be as detailed as you can be and only say positive things.

A very important part of this process is to read your goal regularly, once a day if possible and smile.

Another very important part is to set your action steps.

The final important part is to TAKE ACTION, TAKE ACTION, and have FUN!!

If you are serious about making your dreams come true then take responsibility for your career and start NOW.

Business Coaching
My business coaching is for anyone wishing to achieve more in their business or life.

To FEAR or not to FEAR!!

I wish I was a braver man..you know like James Bond or Batman

The only thing constant in life is change though the irony is we all fear change to one degree or another, but why?

The way we each perceive change is linked to our beliefs, as to whether it is viewed in a positive or negative light. But where do our beliefs come from?

Well, they come from areas like our past outcomes, education, culture and the events we have experienced.
Any change we face requires a response, and it is the manner in which we respond often dictates the outcome of an event. Having a positive expectation to an event will often produce a positive outcome, as our subconscious mind delivers a message to our consciousness to create a positive action.
Yet when it does not give us a positive result we are inclined to feel cheated by our bravery and create a fear of doing it again. What if we could be proud of the fact we have tested our bravery and learn by it instead?
Imagine what you could achieve and experience in life if we were able to control that fear and not to be so afraid of it.
Coaches Danny And Will.i.am Defend The Voice's Falling Ratings
The Voice coach will.i.am explained to Entertainmentwise: ?If you were to compare the show to the music business, which it is kind of, it's a mirror of how the music industry actually works." ?We had a big hit, and the hit was 12million viewers, ...

Whats Important?

Ever wondered if you were being held back by how you think.... These beliefs can limit your potential and prevent you from acheiving your dreams
