Sports Music: The beginnings
Ever since the first Olympic Games in 776 BC in Olympia, Greece, music has played a vital part in sports presentation.
Brass fanfares, drums, tension, release, these were the basic ingredients, and, nearly 3 millennia later, these ingredients still predominate.
Music for sport has become a highly refined business.

Live and Broadcast

Live music at a sporting event is provided in a number of different ways: by a military band, by an organist / keyboardist, using recordings, or just about any combination of musicians and singers.
Broadcast music (i.e. the music that accompanies the sporting coverage on TV) is usually sourced from a production music library, a record company or publisher, or a composer.
