The theme of the song is inspired by the words of Jesus in the Gospel of Matthew. Christian contemporary music today is embarking on a quest to conquer the greatest challenge facing the world today-bringing teens back to Christ and away from the draw of the secular world. In a society where religion is no longer a fundamental part of our schools and those who proclaim Christ's name on the streets are considered to be crazy it's becoming harder and harder for teens to turn their back on their friends and peers and follow the path laid out for them by the Lord. Christian contemporary music today is making great strides to help close the divide between the church and its children and bring teens back to Christ where they belong.

The problem that most teens encounter when it comes to devoting themselves to Christ is that in the "real world" it's not considered "cool" to be a Christian. Teens who take part in Prayer Around the Flag Pole before school, join a Bible Club or stay home on a Friday night to go to youth group are often scorned by their friends. For these young men and women, whose self esteem is determined by the role they play in their immediate circle of peers, this can be devastating. Fortunately, Christian contemporary music today is once again making Christianity the tone of the next generation.

This music today faces tremendous difficulties, going head to head with popular music lyrics that tout the benefits of sex, drugs and rock and roll. That doesn't by any means mean that they're fighting a losing battle. Groups such as the Newsboys and singers like Amy Grant have garnered a tremendous following among teenage society. High schoolers walk down the halls of their school singing, "Breakfast in Hell" at the top of their lungs without fear of consequence, many of them unaware that they are slowly being drawn into the world of this music today. Before they know it they are attending concerts, going to youth revivals and, eventually, getting down on their knees to give their hearts to Christ. This today has bridged the divide between two generations of Christians and brought God into the daily lives of teens all over the world.

There are many members of the church that criticize today's Christian contemporary music, claiming that it is only secular music given religious lyrics to corrupt the youth of the church even farther away from God. What is Christian music but the music of the day given to praise God? When Thomas A. Dorsey set Christian lyrics to jazz music many members of the church were scandalized. The genre his work gave birth to laid the foundations of what is now "traditional" gospel. So too will the music made by the youth of today become the means of spiritual expression for a new generation of Christians. More than the message from the pulpit or the revivals on the street, this music will bring teens back to Christ.
