Gifts for Music Lovers!

Is there a musician in your life? Musicians are unique people who like unique things! People have frequently ask me what types of presents they should get for their musician family and friends. So many great gifts! I've gathered some gift ideas from a couple angles. The practical side of me as a music teacher, and the artistic side of me as a musician have different thoughts on the topic, so, here is a variety of both things musicians need and want.

Presents? What to Get the Musicians on Your List!

Practical side ~ times are tight with finances. I love giving presents to my loved ones, yet I want to spend the money wisely. So, I ask myself, "What is something I can bless a person with that they will really like, will be beneficial to them, and yet at the same time be a good steward of the resources God has blessed me with?"

Artistic side ~ I love creativity and imagination! What can I find to make a person smile ear to ear? Get the creative juices going? Encourage their uniqueness? Tell the world they are a musician? Find something that is really different than other things they might receive?

Hhmm ... let's start searching together to find fantastic musician presents that are artistic, practical, or both. I'm sure we can find something more interesting than a pair of socks for a birthday. Although ... I wonder ...

The Practical Side

What does a musician need?

Give the Gift of Music!

Great Places to Purchase Sheet Music for Your Musicians

I'm always purchasing new sheet music for myself and my students to play and perform. I have a favorite local music store that I frequent, but sometimes I just don't have the time to drive, find a parking spot in the business district of the town, walk the rest of the way to the store, make my selection, and return home. You all know an hour+ of time is precious, sometimes it is just easier to sit and order what I need from home. It is also impossible for local stores to keep the selection of different books I would like in stock. There are many times I have to order it anyway. Why not order directly and have it delivered to your home? It sure is helpful to me!

There are many places online to find quality sheet music ~ here are two of my favorites. They both have an excellent variety of music publishers and materials both educational and pleasure for you to select. Pick a few new music books of their favorite types of music or artists for them to enjoy playing!

Instruments & Accessory Presents

Great Deals!

Let's face it, there are quite a few things that are helpful to musicians. Top of the list would be great instruments, of course, but a little more in most people's price range would be: metronomes, tuners, cleaning kits, music stands, instrument stands, and repair kits.

Manhasset MANHASSET MUSIC STAND 48C Standard

Manhasset MANHASSET MUSIC STAND 48C Standard

Having a music stand at home makes it easier for musicians to practice with proper posture. They are also essential for rehearsals and performances. This Symphony Stand by Manhasset extends to over 40 inches in height and is fantastic for orchestras, bands, chamber ensembles, and guitarists.

Wittner Wood Metronome Walnut

Wittner Wood Metronome Walnut

Being able to maintain a steady beat helps insure the proper length of notes and rhythms and keeps groups of musicians playing together. Metronomes are one of the items that I most highly recommend for my students. Practicing with one really aids in improving rhythmic skills. I've noticed a big difference when someone has begun using a metronome. The Wittner metronome company has a 100 year reputation for making sturdy, accurate, beautiful metronomes. Their metronomes come in a variety of styles, sizes, and types of wood.

Trombone Cleaning Kit (Click picture.)
Magic Valve Magic Slide Trombone Slide Cleaning Kit Kit
Keeping an instrument clean not only extends the life of an instrument, but also helps to prevent repairs, produce better tone, and avoid germs and odor which could cause illness. Separate cleaning cloths and tools may be purchased, or cleaning kits are also available for many instruments.
Gemeinhardt Flute Cleaning Kit Standard

How about violin, guitar, or other instrument strings? String players of both orchestral and popular instruments are appreciative of extra strings to be prepared for broken ones.
D'Addario Helicore Violin Set 4/4 Medium Strings Standard

Whether used at home between practice sessions, or on the stage to hold extra instruments that are used in different parts of a concert, instrument stands of all kinds are extremely helpful! I have a stand that holds my sax, clarinet, and flute all at once. It is wonderful in performance when I am switching between them frequently. I always have a safe place to store them until the next time I need them. I also like to use it in my studio as I change instruments between students. Instrument stands are made for virtually any instrument and style. It's one of those gifts that will be enjoyed and appreciated!
Silver Creek Wooden Folding Guitar Stand Natural

Any other musical need you have can be met at the Woodwind & Brasswind! I have personally purchased many of my instruments and materials from there and have been very pleased with their prices, service, and reliability. Many others who I work with have also given rave reviews of the company. If you are still unsure what to get, they have Gift Certificates to give to the musical artists on your list. Check them out!
