Commercials, love them or hate them are part of our everyday lives. Fortunately, many companies have discovered that a great song can be fantastic for making their product stand out and be memorable. It's also a good way for many of us to discover new music! But it can be infuriating when you love the song in an advert and can't find our who the artist is. I'm here to help. This lens will try to keep up to date with the latest commercials and the music used in them!
Apple i-pod Nano - Artist Feist, song "1234"
The Canadian born singer-songwriter Leslie Feist benefitted greatly when Apple used the song "1234" to launch the new iPod video Nano. Feist released the album "The Reminder" on May 1 2007. Album sales increased dramatically after the iPod ad was shown.Feist's single placed seven times on Billboard charts, climbing as high as No. 4 on Hot Digital Songs and No. 10 on the Pop 100 chart.
On November 3, Feist appeared on the musical guest spot on Saturday Night Live. The album "The Reminder" had sold over 346,000 total records, 130,000 additional sales since the iPod commercial premiered.

Apple MacBook Air - Artist Yael Naim, song "New Soul"
Yaël Naïm is a French-Israeli singer and songwriter.She was born in Paris in 1978 to Jewish-Tunisian parents. Naïm joined forces with percussionist David Donatien, and over a period of two years they arranged and recorded thirteen of Naïm's songs in a studio in Naïm's own appartment in Paris, and these were released as her second album, Yael Naim, in the fall of 2007 on the Tôt Ou Tard label. The songs are in French, English, and Hebrew and received critical acclaim, and the album entered the French album chart at #11 the week after its release. The style has been described as having a touch of folk and a touch of jazz, with mysterious and evocative words sung with a delicate and intentionally slightly husky voice.
In January 2008, her song "New Soul" was featured in the debut commercial for the Apple MacBook Air laptop. The song gained fame from being featured in the ad, and it has peaked, as of February 7 2008, at #1 on the iTunes Top 100 Downloaded Songs.

Gucci By Gucci - Perfume. Artist Blondie, song "Heart of Glass"
The commercial for the latest Gucci fragrance was directed by the wonderful David Lynch. The models featured are Raquel Zimmerman, Natasha Poly and Freja Beha Erichsen.Blondie formed in New York City in 1974. "Heart of Glass" is taken from their second album, "Parallel Lines" which also spawned the hit singles "Sunday Girl", "Hanging On The Telephone" and "One Way Or Another".
