Finding Investors for your Music - Funding, Endorsements and more

The Music Industry is like a repellent to Investors, they hate it, they don't want to be part of it and avoid it like the plague. The reason for this is because the Industry is such a hit and miss, music downloads don't bring in anywhere near as much money as CD sales, illegal downloads have gone through the roof and generally there is no real money for an investor to make unless you get a top 40 smasher. You will find a lot of Investment companies on the net but they will charge you a fortune just for opening up an email. You also need to get a proper Business Plan together which takes time and normally someone who is very good with figures. Even if you do manage to get the previous in place an investor wont be interested. So what options are available.

Music Grants
There are a few Music Grants popping up these days, they are again very hard to get hold of but well worth a shot. Do a quick search on google to find out about grants in your local area, contact local colleges and even your local council. You will find a lot of advice and money out there as long as you keep looking and look in the right place.

Websites
This is an area where most Musicians are finding funding, these website allow people to donate money into your tracks for a tiny slice of the profits. This is an easier option for you to try finding money, however it can be a very long process and if the website users don't believe in what your doing, then you will more than likely not reach your target money. Donations
Fans, Nans, Grans, Mums, Dads, Brothers, Sisters, Uncles, Aunties, Friends, the bloke who lives down the road. Ask them to spare some cash as a loan or to give them part of the profits from your Music.

Loans, Credit Cards and Overdrafts
If your unemployed then this is not the section for you, if you have a regular income then the above should be ok. They can be risky but if your not willing to take the risk on your Music then why should anyone else? Make sure you shop around for the best deal and interest rates.

Self Fund
Like above, why should you expect anyone else to fund your Music when your not willing to fund yourself? Especially for Bands it should be easy, the average Band has 4 members, if you all work then it should be easy to all put £50 a month into a pot. After 6 months you should have £1200 to spend on some recordings, a website, PR, whatever you want. Make sure what little money you do have is invested wisely.

That about sums it up for investments in Music, unfortunately you will find it incredibly hard to find money to push your Music Further. You do have options like above but it doesn't happen overnight. Keep at it, keep talking to people and never loose focus on what your trying to achieve.
