I used to play live in quite a few bands, I would play the guitar most of the time, I would play the bass now and then too. After a while, playing live was fun but it did not really have anything that was set in stone, once the gigs were over. What I mean is that when you play live you just get paid and people will enjoy the show but in time you will never have existed. I wanted to record what I was writing over playing live!
Getting a song recorded would take time. Not just time to write the music but also record it. I decided to cut out the other people I had been playing with and write it all myself I wasn't from the university of music but I knew I could do it on my own and wanted to save as much time as possible.
I would record it all at home as I knew my way round the relevant software.
After a few weeks I had written a few songs that I knew were good but there was something really wrong and I did not know what. It really got to me and I could not seem to write anything anymore. Was it music compose or compose music, I had lost all motivation.
It turned out after I thinking about why these songs were not sounding as good as they used to, that I had cleverly over looked the music production side of the music I had written. I had little or no music mixing techniques, few music mixing tips came to my mind and the answer to the question: how to produce music ? was unanswerable for me.
My music production skills were quite bad to say the least and there was no music production school near me.. I needed to find a way to sort this problem out as I had spent so much time and effort on my music and I did not want to hide it from people or just throw it away. I wrote it for a reason.
I searched the internet looking for music production tips, how to guides on how to produce music, music mixing techniques and even for a university of music to solve my problems.
I did find a solution in the end and it helped me out of an embarrassing hole. The embarrassment was not due to my poor writing skill, it was down to my poor music production skills and also my lack of insight into the whole process of music composition. A University of music could have been good for me!

Here is a great DVD I would recommend watching if you are interested learning some great tips & really wanting to understanding the mixing process. The bonus with this of course is that you can hear & see the thought & process behind mixing a track.
One of the problems I always found was that the internet is so full of resources. There are short overviews into music mixing tips, music production tips, how to produce music and the theory side too but none of it really explained each process properly.
I found that a written, visual and sound explanation left no stones unturned with nagging question that did not get answered.
You need to understand that you need to take control of your musical career and you need to steer yourself in the right direction and make constant, continuous and positive progress and not waste your time trying and failing over and over again when you could very simply be learning and making the tracks you have sweated over see the light of day; if you have many tracks, but a few or none of them have seen the light of day, I am 100% certain that you will need help on how to produce music or song writing properly, you will feel a lot better for knowing nd you will not lose any creativity, you will infact have more confidence than you ever thought possible.
I would seriously recommend anyone that is having the similar problems I had to visit THIS website. Once I looked all the information over and followed their guides I suddenly had a lot more motivation in writing music as I knew when I had finished writing a song I would be able to achieve the high quality production I knew I was capable of and give my track the justice it deserved; I just needed to have all the answers in one place and written by the same person.
