Those Are The Songs That Got Me To Love Elvis

Growing up with Elvis was a fun time in my life.

I remember buying a pack of bubble gum with the Elvis Presley cards in it and finding
the photo of Elvis in the Army.

At that moment I totally fell in love with him....or so I thought, what did I know about love in my
early teens?

I took this card with me everywhere I went even at school. I'd put it in my desk and constantly
open the top to take a peek at it and feeling goose bumps all over.

Ah! Those were the good old days.

New Graceland Exhibit

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - There's a glass case in a room on Graceland's first floor that holds a small white fur coat, a photo album of Elvis Presley's family, and a blue record player used by his daughter, Lisa Marie.

Steps away, in its own display case, rests the well-worn key used to operate a golf cart she would ride in with her father on the grounds of his Memphis home. Pictures of Elvis and his baby daughter line walls.

These items are part of a new exhibit that honors the relationship Lisa Marie Presley had with her father, the late rock 'n' roll icon Elvis Presley. There are about 200 items in the exhibit, which Lisa Marie Presley called subjective and personal.

I think I was too young when he was really popular. I remember visiting friends as a kid and their homes (almost all) had a velvet painting of Elvis adorning their rec rooms. Every mom, it seemed loved him. He certainly had a presence and was handsome. I think I saw him in some 'Gidget gets Married' type shows. Yeah, he's an icon. A shame how his life became unmanageable later in life. . the perils of being famous, I suppose.

    Hi Sousa,

I think I just dated me......
I never had a velvet painting of him...though...not my style.

I love his voice, very unique. And he was so handsome!

Oh, my, your list of songs gave me goose-bumps! First time he came on Ed Sullivan I dropped "setting" my hair, and I still missed him! My favorite always, the 1968 TV concert--he was so natural!
