I'm Donating My Birthday to Charity!

Every year, my friends and family try to decide what to give me for my birthday and while I always appreciate the gifts and the fact that they are thinking of me, this year I want to do something special. Volunteering and donating to charity is my passion and the ferrets need our help more than I need gifts. 45 is a milestone birthday and it would mean so much to me to inspire people to donate to charity for my 45th birthday.

My Birthday Wish

I'm Donating My Birthday to Charity
Facebook makes it easy to donate your birthday to charity. I have decided to donate my 45th birthday to charity and I am encouraging everyone to make a donation to Ferrets Unlimited rather than giving me a gift. I will be 45 on July 14, 2009.

Create a Charity Lens For My Birthday

I know money is tight for everyone, so the easiest way for you to give me a wonderful gift for my birthday is to create a charity lens!

Please consider creating a new lens, on the topic of your choice, and changing the royalty settings to donate at least a portion of the proceeds to Ferrets Unlimited.

Ferrets Unlimited just recently rescued 14 ferrets from a home that was overrun with dozens of animals and they desperately need your help! Creating a charity lens means that your lens has the potential to make a small donation every month, without costing you a penny.

Thank You!

Thank you so much, for granting my birthday wish!

These wonderful people took the time to grant my birthday wish making a donation or creating a charity lens that donates to Ferrets Unlimited Rescue Services.

Janet Crosby, Dave Rossow, Stamatia Mageras Summers, and Heather Katsoulis made donations to Ferrets Unlimited Rescue Services for my birthday wish.

Bambi Watson not only created a charity lens that donates to Ferrets Unlimited, the topic of the lens was her birthday wish! She paid it forward by donating her birthday to charity, too!

About Ferrets Unlimited

Ferrets Unlimited has been rescuing ferrets since approximately 1993.

They have rescued a large number of ferrets over the years. Some loved, some abused, some from homes where the former owner had no clue on care, but purchased the animal on impulse. Ferrets Unlimited is dedicated to finding loving, caring homes for every ferret.

They turn no ferret away, no matter the health, age, or lack of training. Medical needs are met, and manners are taught.

Ferrets Unlimited believes that educating the potential pet owner is one of the most crucial things a rescue organization can do. This applies to both ferret rescues and other animal organizations. An educated pet owner can provide a safer, happier, and healthier environment for their pet, thus making both the pet and themselves a good match.

I began volunteering at Ferrets Unlimited in 2002, when the former shelter director was diagnosed with cancer.

I serve as webmaster and public relations director and have fostered and adopted a number of ferrets over the years. Working with these animals changed my life and animal rescue has become a major focus of my time and energy.

In 2008, the director of Ferrets Unlimited moved out of state so the other board members and I decided to work to keep the rescue going. We formed a new ferret rescue that operates as a foster home network, assuring that each ferret we rescue is placed in a special foster home where they can receive one on one care and attention. This allows us to meet their social and healthcare needs before they are matched with their new family and placed in their forever homes. Ferrets Unlimited Rescue Services has been very successful rescuing and placing ferrets into loving, caring homes. We hope to continue to do so for many years to come.

Some of My Other Charity Lenses

I donate my proceeds and affiliate commissions to charity every month, so visiting my lenses or purchasing items from my lenses is another easy way to help the ferrets.

My Bio

Hi, my name is Julianne and I am a Volunteer, a Web Developer, a College Graduate, a Wife, a Mother, a Photographer, a Vegetarian, an Animal Activist, and a Business Owner (not necessarily in that order). I am an avid blogger and I love Squidoo, where I have been proud to serve as a Citizen Squid. I like to think of Citizen Squids as volunteers that work to help make Squidoo a little bit friendlier for everyone.

Rather than having a boring journal, Squidoo allows one to share their passions and interests with the rest of the world. For example, I'm a lifetime resident of Greater Cleveland, so I created a Cleveland lens. I am also a volunteer for the local ferret shelter, so I created a lens to help spread the word and encourage adoptions. I am crazy about the photo sharing site, flickr, so I created a lens called We Love Flickr. Cooking is another of my favorite hobbies, so I created a Recipes lens. I really enjoy playing Computer and Video Games with my family, so naturally, I created a lens for that, too. Finally, I'm also a huge fan of Porcupine Tree. I could not resist creating a lens for that, too!

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at PhotobucketOne of the coolest things about Squidoo is that lensmasters may designate a charity to receive the proceeds from their lenses. One of the charities that benefit from my lenses is Ferrets Unlimited Ferret Shelter. Our family volunteers our time there and they currently have around 100 homeless ferrets in their care. Please consider creating your own charity lens, too.

I would highly recommend Squidoo to anyone, but I have to warn you, it just might be a little bit addictive. In fact, Squidoo is so compelling that I have created over 82 lenses since I joined in October, 2005. This distinction allowed me to join the ranks of the Giant Squids.

My Stuff on CafePress

I sell items on CafePress featuring my ferret photos to earn money for the ferrets. If you would prefer to buy yourself a ferret shirt, it would be a great way to help the ferrets.

Make a Donation For My Birthday

Squidoo makes it really simple to donate to one of their charities. Since I work with Ferrets Unlimited, I would love it if you would consider sending them a small donation for my birthday.

Ferrets Unlimited is a non-profit, no kill ferret shelter in Cleveland, Ohio.

We at Squidoo passionately believe in creating new ways to support good causes online. By making a donation to Ferrets Unlimited Ferret Shelter from this page, you are sending money directly to that organization, in whatever amount you want. We don't touch it. We don't even see it. The author of this page doesn't either. And if you made it this far, thanks for caring.
