Love From My Angel

You woke up one morning and I noticed a feather on your back
We laughed and brushed it away.

I woke in the middle of the night and noticed your shoulder bleeding
I didn't understand and cleaned the blood so it didn't stain.

You came to me when I needed you most
You started to mend my broken mind
You picked up the pieces of it, I'd left behind

I noticed the lump getting bigger on your back
I just lay there and massaged you
No thought as to why or what

You worked hard to put a smile on my face
You worked even harder to keep it in place.
You gently lifted me on to a pedestal in your mind
Your arms enfolded around me, to protect me from all
The unkind

I noticed another lump appear on your back
I fell back to sleep.

You fought my battles for me
You won
You made sure my foes would never return
You ensured they become, undone.

You protect me now and forever more
You placed armour on me that no one can see
But it is, impenetrable
And at last I feel safe and free

The bleeding started again
You never mentioned your pain.

Again and again you pick me up when I fall
The love you give me beautiful and pure
The words from your lips are like manna from heaven
Feeding my soul which constantly hungers for them.

Your skin blisters now all down your back
You tell me not to worry it will be alright.

Your every move, your every word
Heal me, help me, love me, sooth me
I start to feel whole, you promise to never leave me.

Now it seems like a bone has splintered through your skin
I'm getting frightened now.

You wrap your body round me,
Encircle your legs and arms about me,
You ask if you can marry me.

In the middle of the night, the moon seeps through my window,
I look at your back and I now understand
You have turned into my most beautiful Angel.
And God knows I love you.

My little sojourn through life had not been filled with love and happiness, in fact just the opposite, it was filled with bad relationship after bad relationship. After the realization that my marriage was a loveless void, something truly wonderful happened. I found what can only be described as true love in its truest form and the crazy thing is that it had been with me from the age of 7, my best friend.

I had loved him from being a little girl, we used to play out on bikes, sit and talk for hours and were always to be found in each others company, until he and his parents upsticks and left. After that through out our lives we managed every few years to find each other, and those findings were always joyous occasions. Never once did I tell him how I truly felt, until one day he sent me an email telling me that he loved me and that he did not want to scare me with this information as no matter what he would always love me through out the rest of my life even if it were just as friends. How my heart sang at least one of us had had the courage to say our true feelings. I am happy to report we are engaged to be married. Through out our few years together as partners he has shown me what true love is, how you have to love yourself before you can love anyone else. He has given me every key to every door that happiness lays behind.

Until I had got together with this wonderful man, every door seemed locked to me, I was undeserving of anything. Now I have learnt the secret to it i decided to make it my lifes work to share with as many people as I can how life can be made so much easier and happier just in a few steps."
