My Computer is Very Slow - Step 2

Clear out your Temporary Internet Files

The next thing I recommend for you to do is to clear your Temporary Internet Files. This will help in speeding up your internet browsing capabilities.
It is advisable to clear your Temporary Internet Files regularly, because the folder takes up a lot of disk space and will eventually cause your computer to slow down.
To clear your "Temporary Internet Files" folder for Internet Explorer 7 or 8, simply open a browser, click on Tools, then Internet Options, under Browsing History click Delete and there you will see the options to delete temporary internet files, cookies and history. You can check the box "Delete Browsing History on Exit" to automatically delete the folder when the browser is closed.

My Computer is Very Slow - Step 3

Limit the number of Auto-started Programes running

Now you want to limit the amount of programs you have starting up when you start your computer. This problem is the culprit of a slow starting computer. All those icons you see on the bottom right hand side of your computer are all started up when you turn your computer on. Unless it is security software, I would turn off the remaining ones. These programs use memnory as well CPU, which you would want to use for your own programs.

My Computer is Very Slow - Step 4

Defragment your hard drive

To defragment your hard drive, click on the Start bottom, select Programs, Accessories and then System Tools, now start the Defragment program. Many hard drive defragmentation software programs have a SCAN or ANALYZE feature which enables users to analyze the hard drive to determine the extent of fragmentation. If a hard drive fragmentation is greater than 10 percent it will begin to affect your PC's performance and speed. You can run the defragment program at any time.
Defragment the computer hard disk regularly is a good way to increase computer speed and improve your computers performance. The defragment program ensures that each the file occupies adjacent sectors. Your computer does not have to perform multiple read operations to read that file.

Repair your Registry

Your registry is the heart of your PC. Without it you computer does not startup. The computer registry is the most important part of your computer and it is very dangerous to work with this database of your computer. A computer expert will charge you a small fortune to repair your PC registry. Today where you have registry cleaners that can automatically do the work for you; there would not be any need to hire an expert.
The windows computer registry is the place where most of the info regarding the computer is stored. The registry is activated the moment your PC starts. The registry is modified every time a change is made to your computer.
The next step in fixing "My Computer is very Slow" is repairing the registry. Getting your registry scanned, cleaned, and repaired will speed up your computer.
What I suggest for you to do is to download a trusted and proven online registry repair program. These programs have a free scanner that you can download. After the scanner has ran, all you have to do is another click and you registry is clean again. Also, with most professional registry cleaners, you should run the cleaner regularly or so to keep the registry clean so your computer will STAY running faster!
