I waited 5 years for this one...it was well worth the wait. Very, very hot day. I'm surprised the band didn't collapse."

Patty Loveless with Steve Wariner

Friday, May 14, 1993, 7:30pm, Welsh Auditorium in Grand Rapids, MI.

Ticket price: $16.50.

Attended with my mom.

My notes: "This is the first time I've been to a concert at Welsh Auditorium. Patty sang 1st. Her voice is flawless! She put on an excellent show. She loves and appreciates her fans and being able to do what she does for a living.

Steve's voice is great. He's got a welcomed sense of humor! I'm not fond of his songs. It took the audience a little while to warm up to him after Patty--though he received warm responses.

Marty Stuart

Sammy sang 2nd. This man has got SOME energy! Very good performance. He shook hands with thousands of fans. Very energetic and funny!!

Marty sang 3rd. Very good. He sang 'The Whiskey Ain't Workin' acoustically. He's much better live than on record. He made a joke saying, 'Travis Tritt was supposed to be here, but he's having dinner with Billy Ray Cyrus.'

All of the bands were excellent!!"

Saturday, July 17, 1993, 7:30pm at The Palace of Auburn Hills (Michigan).

Ticket price: $20.50.

Attended with my aunts. Stayed overnight nearby.

My notes: "Wonderful show!! Sound and lights were great. Trisha has a very powerful, beautiful voice--she's fantastic!! Only 15 minutes to wait between shows :). The audience went wild for Travis. He was fantastic--very energetic, very sentimental, very impressed with audience response. Travis was sincere and appreciative!!

On the way to the show, I saw a cyclist standing on the opposite highway by his Harley. I checked him and his bike out 3 times, and thought it looked like Travis. He had on a lavender t-shirt and jeans and a black helmet. At the concert, Travis said her toured the area on his Harley earlier that afternoon. Yup...that was him, I know it!!!!!!!"

Sawyer Brown

with Joe Diffie and Robert Ellis Orrall

The First Annual B93 Birthday Bash (a local radio station out of Grand Rapids, MI). Yes...they are still having Birthday Bashes FREE, and this is 2009!

Saturday, July 24, 1993, 10am-?, Ionia Free Fair.

Ticket price: free

Attended with my aunt and friend, Shirley.

My notes: "We arrived at the Ionia exit at 11:45am. Traffic was so bad, that it took us approximately 3 1/2 hours to reach the fairgrounds, which are about 10 miles from the exit!!! We actually walked into the gates at 4:15pm--we missed Midnight Ryder, Robert Ellis Orrall and half of Joe Diffie. Needless to say, none of us were thrilled! We heard about 1 1/2 hours of music--TOTAL! :(. We saw Sawyer Brown, but the sound system was so bad, we couldn't hear them talk. B93 handed out about 93,000 tickets prior to the concert. I bet there 50,000 people throughout the day?!"
