My Craft Hobby Obsession

Ranked #9,524 in Arts & Design, #166,559 overall

I Craft, Therefore I Am!

If it didn't look like a room from Hoarders, I'd show you a picture of my craft room. There's a narrow path to my rocking chair and work table. I can just about see the TV over the baskets of projects I'm working on, which all sit in front of my rocking chair. Trust me, I can go through yarn pretty fast, but I still buy it faster than I can use it. LOL I just can't pass up a yarn lot at the thrift store or on eBay.

What crafts you say? Well, I've crocheted since I was around 16 and I'm 52 now (*sigh*). I learned to knit finally, last year. Then there's learning to sew (or re-learning). I make soap and bath salts for gifts. I love to paint unfinished wood items too. So, getting a visual on my craft room yet?

But wait, there's more...

Crafting Is More Than Just A Hobby To Me

We get so much out of our crochet, sewing or knitting

While making home decor items, accessories and clothing for ourselves is tons of fun, many of us crafters get a huge charge out of giving something beautifully handmade to someone we love as a gift. Watching a loved one open a handmade gift is so rewarding.

Speaking of rewarding, making some knit or crochet hats & scarves to donate to a homeless shelter is such a heartwarming feeling. Or making lap blankets, wheelchair caddies and dog or cat blankets. How wonderful it is to be able to give away love!

One more benefit of crafting is the "therapy" I personally gain from it. Like my gardening, crafting gives me a chance to be creative, enjoy what I'm doing and even pray while I work. Crafting gives us peace, joy, relaxation and a creative outlet.

I've tried many crafts over the years, but my "main" craft is crochet, which has become it's own crafting obsession :-). Boxes & bags of yarn are piled here and there and everywhere :-). Never to be content with having just one project begun, piles of projects and mounds of yarn fill nooks & crannies in various rooms! Where is your 'rocking chair' exactly?

I can SO relate to this delightfully presented story. Happy Crafting! Lensrolling to my "Let Me Spin You a 'Yarn' story and ~~sprinkling a bit of 'SquidAngel' dust upon your 'craft room'~~

Oh, oh, so crafty ideas and awesome lenses! I was a bit crafty in high school and when I was first married. I was going to knit Christmas Scarves a couple of year ago but...um...maybe this year! Happy Crafting!
