My Kitchen Dreams

I currently dream my kitchen dreams in a modest, one bedroom apartment with a simple galley style kitchen. However, since I was about 9 years old, I have always loved cooking and I have spent much of my life in one kitchen or another. Whether it was watching my great grandma making Sunday dinner or helping a good friend throw a dinner party or even just making a simple meal on a typical Wednesday night, I have always been drawn to kitchens. It seems that no matter what, people always end up in kitchens. So, that is why I dream of having my own ultimate kitchen where I can create and share great meals and memories with my family and friends. From the room itself to the appliances used there, I want to share my dream kitchen and see what you think.

My Dream Kitchen

For my dream kitchen I want reclaimed hardwood maple flooring because it is both beautiful and eco-friendly. The kitchen will have a large, rectangular, granite topped island that would be used for both prep work and as a place for family and friends to gather as well. There would be large windows above deep sinks to add an airy and open feel to the space. I want appliances that will do most anything I'd ever need so that I can continue to learn and experiment with different cooking and baking techniques.
Tuscan Kitchen
Since this is my dream, and money is no object, the first thing I would get is a Stainless Steel 25.5 Cu. Ft. French Door Refrigerator with Thru-the-Door Ice and Water. I love this particular model because it is more efficient with the Freezer in the bottom, is beautiful, modern and meets all the storage and organizational needs I can possibly think of. It makes me happy just thinking about the amount of fresh produce and ingredients I could store in this fridge!
For my dream kitchen range I'd love to have the Viking Professional Series Gas Range With 6 Burners And Grill - Stainless Steel. I love cooking with gas so this would suit me just fine. I especially like that it has plenty of burners to keep everything warm and ready at the same time. To me there are few things more frustrating than when I'm making a meal in my little kitchen and I have to warm things up in the microwave or put them in the oven just because I have more things to cook than burners to put them on! If I had this range, of course, I would be able to cook and bake everything from appetizers to dessert all at the same time -this cook's dream. I would also want a pasta arm over the stove just for convenience (and because I saw one in the TV show, American Horror Story, and thought it seemed like a fun and useful thing to have. I love that show.)

Beautiful Cookware and Countertops

I would also like blue flecked granite counter tops that run the length of the kitchen on both sides with lots of cabinets underneath and thick and sturdy reclaimed hardwood shelves above to hold my pots and pans as well as the dishes and glassware that I use most often. These shelves would be wall mounted with steel cables anchoring them to the ceiling for extra security as well as visual appeal.
My pans would be All Clad Stainless Steel for both their even, consistent heat conductivity and the pop that stainless brings to a kitchen.

I would also incorporate a complete set of Flame colored Le Creuset because in this dream I can actually afford these two sets of ultimate cookware! For now, it's just a dream but I believe that if dreams are specific and genuine that somehow and some way they have a way of coming true. I'd love to hear from anyone out there who also loves to cook or design kitchens. What would your dream kitchen be like?

I understand your passion for the kitchen - that is the most important room in a home, in my opinion. Everything happens there. I fell in love with Viking many years ago, in fact, we bought one of the first Viking ranges in the country. I loved it and carried it with me for many years from house to house after we left its first home with us.

I'm living with a 15 year old kitchen in a house I bought last year. I've decided to work with it for a couple years so I can gather ideas for my own dream kitchen. It's basic and it works but needs new everything, so when it comes time to do it over, it's gonna be all new. Love that photo of the big island kitchen and hood. Who wouldn't love to cook and entertain in a dream kitchen with lots of counters, cabinets and space?

I'm afraid I'm a terrible cook, so my dream kitchen would come equipped with my own personal chef! While I'm not much of a cook, I would love hanging out in my dream kitchen, drinking a glass of wine and cheering on those who are doing the cooking. I enjoyed your lens.
