My Ergonomic Chair
I'm a recent convert to ergonomic chairs and now a huge fan. This is a blatant attempt to convert as many other people as possible to them. They are just one of the best inventions or modern timesĀ and have an incredible advantage over an everyday chair.
Cool Ergonomic Chairs
This might sound a bit corny, but ergonomic chairs are not just practical, they can be a fashion statement too!
Ok, so I might be an ardent fan of ergonomic chairs and ever so slightly biased, but after all this is a lens about ergonomic chairs, so I feel as if I sort of have permission to rave.
I recently bought an ergonomic chair, and I confess I was slightly reluctant to actually part with the cash at first. My thoughts were along the lines of, how can this be justified - I mean, it's just a chair...
Well, although I hate to admit it, I was wrong. It is definitely not just a chair. Ok, let me set the scene a bit here. I work from home (well, "try to work from home" would be more accurate) and I spend quite a lot of time in front of my computer, and obviously sat in a chair.
With plenty of work to do, I almost always got up after sitting down for too long with stiff shoulders and back ache, but assumed that this was inevitable, simply due to the amount of time I'd been in my chair. I never imagined that the chair would make any difference.
Well, having stumbled across a few articles on ergonomic chairs recently, I got to thinking that maybe there was something in it. I'm also conscious of the fact that prolonged bad posture will affect me in the long term too, so anything that helps me avoid trouble down the road is always of interest.
To cut a long story short, I ended up talking myself into an ergonomic chair, and boy, was I missing something.
The difference is just amazing. No more back ache or stiff shoulders. It's just gone. The funny thing is, I now spend even more time in my chair without getting up because it is so comfy. My productivity has improved, as has my concentration. In fact if I think about it in purely financial terms, the benefits have probably covered the initial cost of my ergonomic chair several times over.
If you haven't looked at an ergonomic chair yet, or tried sitting in one, just go and do it. Some places will let you take them home for a day or two to test drive them. I'm fairly sure that once you've given them a go you won't look back. Look at it as an investment in your health and your future.

- Couldn't agree with you more. I remember the first time I got a office chair. It cost me $50 at Walmart and I thought that was too expensive. Looking at the prices of other office chairs, that is really cheap. Anyway, going from the four legged wooden chair to an office is heavenly. I think everyone should try one and feel the difference an office chair can make. I would suggest checking out Ergonomic Chairs to learn more about how they can benefit you. I like this lens by the way.....5 stars!
