My Halo Clan Story

But first off, many of you might be wondering what a clan even is. At it's most basic level a clan is a loose association of friends that play together. But often it will be a highly organized group of hundreds of players who compete professionally. The clan I belong to is somewhere in the middle. We have about 1000 members and are pretty organized. The clan's name is SIA (formally BOA (formally ROTR)).

I'll start at the beginning. The clan I originally joined was called ROTR (Rebels of the Rebellion). This clan was formed from a corrupt Halo 2 clan. That clan broke off into a group of rebels, but this group of rebels were no better than the original clan, and so more rebels broke off from the rebellion. They called themselves ROTR because they were the rebels from the rebellion. Well, when I joined the clan was going quite strong. It had over 2500 members and was run by a group of 5 or so people. Everything was voted upon and everything was running smoothly. I had been actively searching for a clan for months, almost since I got the game.

In one random team slayer game I ran into two fellows by the name of Killer H4NZ and PHV19thGreener. They had matching emblems, a surefire sign of being in the same clan. After the game I inquired about the clan. They told me about it, and asked if I wanted to join. Perfect! Here was my opportunity! I enthusiastically replied that I most certainly would.

They brought me into a lobby and told me they had to read me the Code of Conduct, the rules of their clan. They told me to take notes as I would be quizzed about it later. PHV19thGreener, or Greener as we'll call him, was a Sergeant, which in this case meant he was designated to read the COC (Code of Conduct). Killer H4NZ was a Captain which meant he was the one who asked the questions. Greener sped through the Code of Conduct, at a rate I could barely understand him. Then Killer H4NZ began to ask the questions. The first one, "What does ROTR stand for?" Crap, I thought, I can't even remember the name of the clan, they'll never let me in. "Roses of the...?" "No, it's Rebels of the Rebellion, but that's alright." I stumble through the rest of the questions and am sure they'll never let me in. "Well, you did pretty bad, I'm afraid I can't let you in..." Killer H4NZ said. I was devastated. "Just kidding, you did alright, you're in." I was so mad, but I was also happy that I got in at all. They finished getting me in my uniform, and explaining the basics of the ranking structure and the meetings. First meeting was today and 5 PM, got it.

I was all excited to go to my first meeting, I would even get promoted just for making it! I was stoked. Well, turned out to be hell. They invited me to this lobby a few minutes late. It was filled to the brim with screaming noobs. I was dumbfounded, I expected this to be an organized meeting with everyone quiet. The highest rank there tried to keep everyone quiet, and after 10 minutes he finally succeed. 15 minutes after the meeting was supposed to start, and it hasn't even showed any signs of starting. I ask, "When is this going to start?" They tell me it will start when MajorBeefy, the general (leader) of this branch gets here. Nobody has any clue where he is. Desperate calls to his cell phone are all received by his voice mail. Many people quit while waiting. Finally, MajorBeefy gets here, 45 minutes late... He have many less people than we had, and everyone is really angry. But the meeting proceeds as planned. I get my promotion. Now I just need to get three more recruits to get to the next rank. (By the way, MajorBeefy is a great guy, and he was just having some personal problems at the time)

My next meeting was significantly better. It was at 7, which since the meeting started so late, was only around 40 minutes after the end of the other meeting. The general was here to begin with, and everything went fairly smoothly. They told me there would be a warfare after the meeting this time, sweet. They end up playing team doubles on blackout, team captains. This one person gets picked as team captain, Black WolfX23. Now, since I'm brand new to the clan, I didn't expect anyone to pick me. But Black Wolf goes, "Hmmm, I don't know that cactus guy, I'll pick him." Now, you'd think this would be a good thing for me, picked second! But at the time I thought it was horrible. This Black Wolf was like this 12 year old with a really high voice. Well we play, and we have a good time, and we add each other to our friends lists. After the warfare I meet some other people such as Blitzburgh, and Jrsone.

Well over the next couple days I tried to get some recruits. This turned out to be an impossible task for me. Well I found a solution. Basically, when a Sargent reads the COC, they get credit for it. And then a Captain reads the questions they get credit for it. And when a Private or Corporal recruit someone they get credit for it. Well, there were many Sargents and Captains that recruited people to get their COC credit, and their questions credit, but didn't need the recruiting credit. So I would basically wait for them to recruit someone and I would jump on them and be like "Can I take the recruitment credit for them?" And they would always give it to me. Through this system I made it to my next rank, Corporal. And at Corporal I needed to get two more recruits before being promoted. Well I didn't really want to do this. So I just hung out as Corporal for awhile and went to meetings. And then, randomly I just stopped.

I became sick of video games. I just didn't want to play them anymore. So for around two months, I didn't even so much as touch my Xbox. And life went on as normal. But for some reason, I became drawn back. I wanted to play again. So I get back on.

I come back, and the first thing I want to know is, what happened to the clan. Well as soon as I asked they told me the most shocking story. The entire clan collapsed! I was devastated, how could this be? Well apparently all six people running the clan quit at the same time. It all started with just one person quitting, and then their boyfriend quit too. And then one person quit for personal reasons. And then the remaining too people are like "I don't want to run this by myself, cya!" And so in the frame of about 5 days, the entire clan collapsed. But luckily, everyone got back together and planned a new clan almost exactly the same as the old one, but with new leaders. So I went to the first meeting that was to decide on a name. About ten people came and everyone got to throw in an idea for a name. They ALL sucked. It was eventually decided on BOA (Brotherhood of Assassins). Well, it still hadn't formed yet, and there still were no leaders, and everything was up in the air. So I thought, well I don't really want to be involved with this until everything gets formed. So I quit, again.

Honestly, I had all intentions to come back, but I just, forgot about it. And for about another month and a half I didn't touch my Xbox. But, yet again, I had to go back, and I did.

So I get back on, and I can't find anybody. So I contact the last person I still had on my friends list from in the clan, Black Wolf. He tells me about how the clan is now SIA, and he's the General! I was hysterical. This little 12 year old from oh-so-long ago who was nothing, is now the general of the branch I was now in. Well it took me awhile to accept it, but now it's all good. So I started attending meetings again, and Black Wolf helped me a lot with getting enough recruits to get to Sargent, and from that I went to Lieutenant, and now I'm a Captain. And I've met lots of awesome people in SIA. I will be updating this when anything new happens.
