My Experiences on Yardsellr

Newbie on Yardsellr

An Etsy friend recommended a site she's been selling on called Yardsellr. So I went there to sign up. I like that I could join with my Facebook log in information, and they gave me a $5 credit for signing up. I notice that if you sell something, there are no fees. It's free. Can't beat free. You then check whether you want to make the sale locally and meet in person to do the transaction by posting your zip code, or you can click the button that says shipping, and chose a shipping rate to sell your item through the mail. You can also choose to get paid via check or PayPal.

I plan to list my arts and crafts and jewelry on Yardsellr. And also list supplies and items I need to get rid of to make more space. I will come back here to let you know how my sales are going and also any other relevant info I can come up with.

Easier Than Etsy or Zibbet or Artfire

I hope to sell crochet and knit items on Yardsellr.Selling on Yardsellr seems to be easier than Etsy, Zibbet or Artfire. You only need one photo of your item. You don't have to write long descriptions. You can be selling immediately without having to get pre-approved. You can choose to ship it or deliver it in person. I like all of these options. And you get bonus points called Photons that you can use to buy things with.

If you are meeting strangers in public to sell goods, I recommend you take a buddy and meet in a public well lit place. Use all the normal precautions of meeting people that you've found out about online only. On the plus side, meeting them in person gives them a chance to hold your item in their hands and maybe buy other items you take along.

My First For Sale Listing on Yardsellr

Interlacing Paths

I just listed my first item on Yardsellr. as you can see in the photo.

My friend says you can import your Etsy listings to Yardsellr but I'll have to ask him how to do it because I don't see a thing in their FAQ section that's helpful.

Update: I found the button to import my listings from Etsy. It's in the right sidebar of the page my for sale items are on. There is a button for Ebay as well. So I transferred my Etsy listings from my new shop. A week later I wanted to transfer some listings from my other Etsy shop and didn't see any way on Yardsellr to import from multiple shops. So make sure you list your main Etsy shop on there first.

My First Purchase on Yardsellr

I collect patterns. I even sew the item once in awhile. In order to do this article justice, I felt like I needed to buy something on Yardsellr. I have photons piling up (script from Yardsellr). So I found two McCall's patterns I liked. I've sewn things all my life and I just can't resist patterns. Each pattern was a separate transaction. The first pattern was priced $6.00 and the second was priced $6.50. Once my photons came off the purchase price, I ended up paying $1.20 for one and $1.30 for the other. The seller had free shipping too! Can't beat that. Now I have to wait for them to show up on my doorstep and then I'll tell you how it goes from there.

My First Items Arrive From Yardsellr

Today I got my first purchases from Yardsellr. One came in the USPS mail, and the other came UPS. Both sites had tracking information so I knew my items were due to come today.

I hit the first hiccup with my Yardsellr. I ordered a tortilla press from one vendor and the sale was cancelled on their end with no explanation. Then I ordered some bakeware, and after I had paid I found out both items were from the same seller. But I got the second order today, and also was refunded the $5. I paid for the cancelled order, though it took about 3 days for the refund to show up on my Paypal.

My only questions are why did they cancel in the first place, and did I get my $25 worth of photons back so I could spend them elsewhere or not? It doesn't seem like I got them back, but photons disappear over time if you don't use them, so is it possible I got them and didn't realize it and they just melted away? I'll look into it further.

But so far I have $5.00 of my own cash into it, and you can see in the photo what I got for my $5. so I'm way ahead of the game.

Update: Yesterday I emailed the admins to ask whether I got my photons back. They answered the same day and said I did indeed get them back. I'm looking forward to buying more on Yardsellr. In fact I bought a book yesterday on crafts and can't wait to get it.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I'd signed up for the site but was unsure what to do there. Some people gave me photons and I looked at their listings but didn't see anything I wanted to buy. I wonder if I can pass my photons on to someone else.

I don't believe they are transferable but you can send links to Facebook friends sometimes as you are browsing items. Photons gradually disappear if you don't use them though.
