I Want a Fairy Tattoo, Do You?

A Fairy Tatto is Very Meaningful to Me

I haven't always like fairies. And it wasn't always meaningful that I get a fairy tattoo. I didn't really care one way or the other about them, actually! Then I took a very transformational personal development course and had what I call a vision of a fairy after the course. It came to me as a representation of the growth that had occurred within me.

"Elves and fairies are a natural expression of your inner being that includes your dreams, aspirations, and desire for something more in life than what's being offered. Elves and fairies beckon you to a world where anything is possible as long as you set your mind to it!"

I started doing some research into this fairy and how it looked. It turns out that I saw a meadow fairy, or meadow nymph. And it turns out that it's very symbolic of who I am. Pretty cool.

Since it's so significant to me now, and since it represents growth to me (which has always been vitally important in my life), I decided that I wanted to get a fairy tattoo. This tattoo, along with one of a butterfly, a spiral and an elephant, is now on my "bucket list," which I call my "life list."

The fairy tattoo that I want looks very similar to the picture I've included here in the introduction. In my tattoo, though, the fairy will be dressed in long, flowing, translucent robes and will have much curlier hair.

So, why this page?

I wanted to write about something that has become very significant to me. I wanted to share this aspect of myself with you. I thought I'd also share a bit of cool info about fairies and some awesome fairy stuff. And I was also issued a challenge to create a page using only five modules besides the introduction and the guestbook. This lens accomplishes that!

Enjoy!

My Fairy (Tattoo) Tale

So, like I mentioned, the fairy I saw in my "vision" was a meadow nymph, or meadow fairy.

In my research, I learned that there are "elemental fairies" - - fairies of earth, air, fire and water. They're sometimes viewed as nature spirits and are often associated with forests, meadows and water. This also describes a nymph. Nymphs, in Greek Mythology, are beautiful, female nature spirits, or deities. They're spirits of meadows, mountains, forests & bodies of water. Some say that nymphs are a type of fairy, or that fairies stem from nymphs. They're pretty interchangeable and similar, so I just call my meadow nymph a meadow fairy.

Meadow nymphs are also called leimoniades and nappees.

I also mentioned that I discovered that meadow fairies are symbolic of who I am.

It's really cool that my name means "graceful meadow." I wrote on another lens about how I see myself wearing flowing, white clothes and twirling in a meadow with flowers in my hair. Does that look like the picture I included above?? I think so!

I also have a dream to build a house with a beautiful meadow yard . . . with a huge tree in the center and a quiet stream surrounded by incredible rocks and plants . . . a little like the pictures below. I love nature. Nature speaks to me of interconnectedness, life, oneness, spirit and harmony.

"Dryads are nymphs of the forest in the same manner as the nappees are said to be nymphs of the meadows. They are both examples of earth fairies."

Interestingly, my name also means "youthful" in some sources and meadow nymphs are youthful female spirits.

So, it's no wonder that I had a vision of a meadow fairy. To me, it's so symbolic of growth, transformation and the full expression of me, not to mention the whole nature connection thing.

"Fairies are the sacred spirit or presence that animates and enlivens all of nature."
