I was a Child of the Seventies!

~Updated February 1, 2012~

Hey man! It's groovy!

I was born in 1968, so most of my childhood was in the 70's. I have so many fond memories of the toys I loved playing with back then! I'd like to share some of those memories with you.

So, come on! Ease on down the road!

Barbie

I loved my Barbies! I must have had about six or so. I know that's not a lot by today's standards, but I was perfectly happy with them! I also had a Ken and a Skipper, but nothing could beat Barbie!

70s barbie pattern
I had some clothes for them, but not a huge amount. I remember my Mom and Grandma making Barbie clothes for me! I still have one of the items from this pattern! And, I have a fancy dress Grandma crocheted for her! If only I hadn't let my girls play with my Barbies, I might still have some of them, too. LOL

70s barbie dream house
We were never able to afford the big Dream House, even though I would have loved to have one. I did get to play with one at a friend's house from time to time, though! Whoever had one of these was considered a very lucky little girl! LOL

70s barbie Country-Living-Home-Furniture-4
Santa did bring me a Barbie Country Living home one year, though, so I was thrilled to have it! It was actually pretty cool! It started out as a square that the sides folded out on, and voila, you had a lovely, three-room house! I loved the "swinging" door between the living room and kitchen! It was also nice that it was portable! I could play in my room, out in the yard, or at a friend's house!

70s barbie camper
And, lucky me, I also had the Barbie Country Living Camper! It was very cool, too! It had doors that opened, and even a pop-out sleeping area! I spent many a happy hour crawling around and camping with my Barbies! I wish I had kept these things. :-)

Darci

I got Darci one year for Christmas. Santa was so good to me! I really loved her! She seemed prettier than Barbie, and her hair was easier to fix! If I had kept her, instead of letting my little girls play with her, I'd probably still have her. LOL

Dawn was a tiny little doll. There were several styles to choose from, but I had the one with reddish hair. I actually still have her, although, her clothes are long gone. She's been stuck in a make shift dress for many years. LOL

Easy Bake Oven

What little girl doesn't love to bake? I was no different! I loved making tiny little cakes and frosting them. I know the kits can be expensive, though, so I also have a lens on Homemade Easy Bake Oven Recipes! (http://www.squidoo.com/Easy-Bake-Oven-1)

Fashion Plates were lots of fun for me! It was sort of like a make your own coloring book! LOL You could mix and match plates to make hundreds of clothing designs on different models, then color it any way you liked. It kept me busy for many an evening!
