My favorite sewing projects

I often find my inspiration by browsing the web

When I am looking for a fun sewing project I often look to StumbleUpon or another browsing application to find inspiration. This can be tedious and unfruitful, but when I find something I like I make sure I bookmark it for later.

I learned to sew from my mother and grandmother, and can remember many projects made for 4-H and county fairs. The legacy they gave me is something I enjoy blessing others with- most of the projects I make are gifts.

Rarely do I sell anything I make or keep it for myself because I believe a handmade gift is a gift from the heart and soul.

In this lens, I will share some of my favorite projects I have found across the web and created at my home.

Websites to search for ideas

There are sites and blogs that I have found that have too many great projects to list them all! I love bright pictures and tutorials. There is nothing so frustrating as finding a cute idea online and not knowing how to put it together.

Project List

These are some specific projects that I have made or plan on making.

Scrappy Oven Mitts
A great project to use up some scraps!
Fat Quarter Tote Bags
These make great Christmas gifts for kids.
Diaper Bag Pattern
This is one of my all-time favorite projects. They are well received at baby showers.
Messenger Bag
For a college student or a nice laptop case.
Raw Edge Circle Quilt
This is just one of many cute quilts on this blog.

What I have been working on lately

I love to make quilts- but the time and effort it takes to create one (not to mention money!) is just too much sometimes for me. I am a homeschooling mom to three kids, online student, and full-time volunteer. I love making these rag quilts because I can use simple fabrics and scraps and have them done in a weekend. This one was made for a special young man who will be graduating high school this month.

Other projects I have made

These are some of the things I have made over the past few years. I love to improve my sewing skills but since space is limited I try to stick to small easily completed projects.

I like that you have included links to other projects. I have a lens like that for quilting but I appreciate anyone who does my research for me. I already found two I want to do. Great job. Angel blessed

Nice lens. I recently made an evening bag for a friend using an idea from a web page. I took photos while I made it to put on my blog http://www.beadprojects.org/ and then promptly forgot to take a final picture of the end product! Running late you see...

I see you have some of the same fabrics I do in some of my quilts. Nice work. Great resource for finding projects.

Very cute! I don't sew, but my mom did and I had a lot of homemade stuff growing up. Great lens.
