The Best Swim Vests and Floaties for Kids

Spring is here, which means summer days aren't far away. When the days get uncomfortably hot and muggy, a nice relaxing swim has always been one of my favorite ways to cool off. After having four kids, it became a lot less relaxing and a lot more worrisome. My two oldest kids can swim, and they enjoy the water as much as I do; but I have a six year old daughter who is very cautious and timid around the water, and let's face it, if she isn't having fun then neither am I. My youngest daughter is four, and while she can't swim without floaties yet, she isn't as timid as my six year old.

This is where my favorite swim vests and floaties come in. They allow us all to enjoy the pool, while giving my kids more confidence and freedom in the water.

I am not saying all other floaties and vests are bad....I am just sharing my favorite from my experience.

Don't forget to sign the guestbook at the bottom of this lens and share your comments with me. I welcome your thoughts and ideas.

The Best Floaties for Toddlers:

Why I LOVE these floaties!

The best thing about these floaties, or as some people say, water wings, is that they are fabric covered. They don't stick to my daughter's arms when removing them. They are also easy to slide on and have velcro to adjust the tightness, which makes them great for skinny arms.

This is our second year using them and they are still going strong. They seem to be very durable.

My four year old daughter loves them, and so do I. They are the best arm floaties we have used so far.

These are the best floaties I have tried so far...they are much better than the solid vinyl ones in my opinion.

Don't Forget the Guys!

They also come in a style just for boys.

They come in blue as well, and just in time to get ready for pool season!

Stearns Girls Swim and Float Swimsuit

My other favorite swim accessory for my daughter!

This sleeveless style is the suit my daughter has (hers is pink with purple butterflies on it). I have tried several brands of swim vests, but this one is by far the best out of all the brands I tried. My daughter is able to stay upright without her face tipping forward into the water. She can even jump off the side of the pool and this vest will bring her straight up out of the water. It is also easy for her to swim around the pool with this swimsuit on.

This product has been extremely durable as well. This is the third year my daughter has used this swimsuit. We bought it a little big and it fits perfectly this year. (I have found that this swimsuit is ok to be a little big, but make sure it can't slip off. Also make sure it isn't so big as to be very uncomfortable). If it is way too big, the shoulder straps will be pushed up next to the ears or face, which can be annoying.

The Best Quick Set Pool!

Of course, you need a pool to use these floaties...

In my opinion, the Intex Easy Set Swimming Pool is one of the quickest, easiest pools to set up and use. The only catch I have found is that your location has to be very level! This is very important with one of these pools. We have had much enjoyment out of ours! As you can see, the kids were swimming before it was completely full!

The Intex Easy Set Pool provides hour after hour of swimming fun for the whole family. The pool is roomy enough for everyone to enjoy, at a very minimal cost compared to other above ground pools. We have been extremely satisfied with ours!

Can't wait to swim!

Impatient swimmers!

As you can see, the kids just couldn't wait to jump in! The pool was almost full....but not quite!

Don't Forget to Put on Sunscreen!

Sunscreen is an important thing to remember to keep skin healthy and protected from the sun's damaging rays. My kids like the Banana Boat brand. We use the lip balm too, so that our lips are protected as well. I have featured our favorites below.

Our Favorite Sunscreen!

We used the Banana Boat Baby Tear Free when our kids were small, but now that they are old enough, we like the Banana Boat kids. Our teenagers like the sport spray. It is so convenient and it is very easy to apply. It goes on much faster than the traditional lotions and creams.

    Hi there Lisa

Great Lens. My daughter was so scared of getting into the water in her early years but we got her a swimming vest until she gained some confidence. It allowed her to get used to the water and she loved it.
