My garmin 1350

I've this unit for 10 days now and overall I'm very proud of it. For its mainstream function, navigation, it's excellent. I had a Garmin 350 before this which I loved but it was stolen from my car. I had a Magellan after that which was crap. The price on this unit was nice ($247 - Amazon).

I selected it over the 1390T as a result of I opted to not get bluetooth. It's the only distinction between the units. I felt the bluetooth quality would be poor primarily based on other opinions of bluetooth basically on GPS units. The main motive was in the best way most people use bluetooth. In a typical day I am out and in of my automotive often. I always want my bluetooth immediately in case I get a call. I don't always want my GPS. And since my previous unit was stolen, and theft of those models is a big drawback in all places, I hold the unit hidden or sometimes take away it from the car. So if you are like me however you get this unit for bluetooth, you will want to stop and mount your gps everytime you get within the automobile whether or not you need it or not, just to have blue tooth capability. If you happen to forget and the mobile phone rings, you don't have any bluetooth. So I bought a separate bluetooth speaker phone from Jabra (very good unit which is all the time connected to my visor, fairly good high quality, and all the time there after I want it. I saved about $seventy five by opting for the 1350T over the 1390T.

Just a few minor disappointments. The Lane Help characteristic works great but will not be out there everywhere. I used it round NYC and it was helpful. I drove via Pennsylvania and upstate NY and it was not available. Advertising materials hypes this characteristic but they neglect to let you know this one point. However when it is obtainable, it's a great feature. That brings me to traffic. Same story here. I used to be driving via PA and hit a 1 hour visitors jam. No warnings from the traffic characteristic because it was not accessible in that area. After I got to the Scranton, PA space the visitors alerts began working. It alerted me of a significant visitors jam forward and it even rerouted my trip automatically. The reroute would have been a major addition in miles but could be worth it to keep away from the traffic, proper? I made a decision to ignore the re-route just to test the unit to see if the alert was correct and I used to be prepared to endure the traffic. As I drove my authentic route, no site visitors anywhere. So had I listened to the visitors alert, I might have pushed 50 miles out of my approach for nothing. Bottom line is, don't let the traffic characteristic be a deal breaker for the unit you choose. But then again, I acquired the 1350T for about the identical price because the 1350 same unit with out visitors). Updating the map was harder than it should have been. I think about myself a very technical person with computers and devices but the map replace didn't go smoothly and took me several tries. I may see where many individuals could have issue with this if they attempt to replace the map.
