Changing the World. One Good Deed at a Time.

How will you remember 9/11? Pledge your good deed for 9/11 in memory of those lost September 11, 2001 and turn 9/11 into a national day of service and compassion.

My Good Deed is a non-profit public benefit corporation that was founded in 2002 to honor the victims, family members, and survivors of the attacks on America, as well as the rescue and recovery workers and the thousands of volunteers who gave so much on and following September 11.

My Good Deed pays tribute to them by working to establish Sept. 11 as a national day of voluntary service, charity and good deeds.

What will you do today in memory of 9/11 to change the world?

A Good Deed is Never Lost

Plant Kindness

    A tree is known by its fruit;
    a man by his deeds.
    A good deed is never lost;
    he who sows courtesy reaps friendship,
    and he who plants kindness gathers love.

About My Good Deed

Pledging to Do Good in Honor of Those Who Died on 9/11

MyGoodDeed.org was created in 2002 as a way to honor the victims and heroes of 9/11 and preserve the spirit of unity and compassion that existed in the nation following the terrorist attacks.

People and organizations are pledging to keep the 9/11 spirit of unity alive by performing good deeds on 9/11 and every day throughout the year.

According to the MyGoodDeed.org website, last year nearly 382,000 people have pledged a good deed and posted them on the site.

For 2008 they have relaunched the site as a Pioneering Social Cause Networking Site. Visitors to the new site will be able to do far more than simply post good deeds once a year. They can start their own causes, connect with others who share similar interests in social causes, and stay involved throughout the entire year, utilizing powerful social networking tools to become true self-directed agents of change.

Suggestions for Good Deeds

From the My Good Deeds site

  1. Make an appointment to give blood
  2. Donate used clothing or personal property through Goodwill Industries
  3. Help build homes through Habitat for Humanity
  4. Download lesson plans for use in schools

to rekindle the remarkable spirit
of unity that existed
following the 9/11 tragedy.

My Good Deed for September 10, 2008

My Good Deed for September 10, 2008 was to come up with the idea for the Squidoo Activist My Good Deed Charity Challenge for 9/11.

The My Good Deed Charity Challenges encourages all lensmasters to make a lens to benefit a charity in honor of those who were lost and those who lived through 9/11.

The Charity Challenge goes along with the main reason that My Good Deed was founded, to encourage everyone to pledge a good deed for 9/11 in memory of those lost September 11, 2001.

Switching Benefactors for this lens

My Good Deed for this first day of August, 2008 is to donate 100% of the proceeds from this lens to Operation Helmet . It seems a fitting tribute because 9/11 is the reason the troops are fighting in these areas.

Operation Helmet provide helmet upgrade kits free of charge to troops in Iraq and Afghanistan
