Some hosting companies are just complete scams, others are fantastic Read my full HostGator Review here before purchasing anything.
I've been through a lot of customer service issues many web hosting companies. They can either be complete nightmares or make things a real breeze. For instance, one of my sites was down on a Friday before a Monday holiday. I opened up a trouble ticket, could not find a phone number anywhere, and the company had conveniently taken a long weekend vacation. I immediately dropped that hosting company and searched for the one with the best customer service.
After a TON of research, I narrowed it down to 3 companies and ultimately decided to go with HostGator. That was about 2 years ago, and it has been the best decision I made for my online business ever.
Not only is there service very reliable, but any time I have a question about implementing something, they are very, very fast to respond. You can easily call or email a customer service rep, but I prefer to chat with them so they can walk me through the process right online. When I was running out of bandwidth, they called to warn me and asked if there was anything they could do. They bumped it up for me immediately to avoid downtime.
There is a reason HostGator has more than 1,000,000 hosted domains. In my opinion and experience, they offer the best customer service I have received from a web hosting company - bar none.
Not only that, but their prices are very competitive, and they offer the more services with even the most basic package than you could ever need.
They have a 45 day money back guarantee if you're not happy, but that won't be needed. If you ever have a support issue, you just ask to have your trouble ticket assigned to Brent, and you'll get VIP attention. They have a month-to-month service option as well, so you can test them out first.
I highly recommend HostGator. Be sure to use the 20% coupon code when you check out.
