The Invicta 8926 Diver Watch is probably the best known Invicta watch. That might not mean much to you, unless you are sort of a watch nerd. Although the 8926 is obviously a copy of a Rolex Submariner, it stands on its own as a nice timepiece.

In my opinion, you will probably like the Invicta 8926 if the following is ok with you :

1. You are interested in automatic watches but haven't owned one before
2. You like the look of a watch like the Rolex Submariner but don't care to spend $7,000 on a watch
3. You are expecting a watch that is rugged, but not absolutely top notch, in terms of build quality

I have owned my Invicta 8926 Diver Watch for a little over two years, after buying it at a mall for about $115 after tax (It's actually available for much less from Amazon). I decided to buy locally in case the watch turned out to be complete piece of junk or broke right way. Happily, it wasn't junk, it didn't break, and a few things about it surprised me:

1) The watch is pretty accurate, I only have to adjust it by a minute or two every six weeks or so

2) It's durable. I have taken no special care and the crystal is very resistant to scratching, and while the band scratches easily, the brushed finish still looks decent even after it's taken some damage. I suppose it would be very easy to scratch the band if it scraped against a coral reef when you are diving with it. Fact: the band will get scratched when you reach to get something out of a vending machine and drag the watch across the hinged door once you've nabbed your snack. Your mileage may vary.

3) In terms of the weight and feel of the watch, it's pretty close to perfect

I had originally been interested in buying the 8926 Diver watch to try out how an automatic watch would work. I figured that if I ended up liking it I would go back and upgrade to something like a vintage Omega or Tag Heuer. However, the 8926 Diver has worked out so well that I am in no hurry to replace it.

As far as downsides go, the overall build quality is solid but doesn't really present as a fine timepiece. But it is a lot nicer and more durable than some Fossil watches my wife has bought for me over the years. I would put the Invicta on about the same level as a Seiko or Citizen, overall. In fact, the movement that the Invicta 8926 uses to keep time is the exact same mechanism as Citizen uses in some of its automatic watches that cost a lot more.

Finally, it seems like you can only go about 24 hours without wearing the watch before the mechanism stops. So it works best if you commit to it and wear it every day. The Invicta 8926 Diver is a cool watch, and when you consider how relatively cheap it is I consider it a great value that didn't leave me disappointed.
