About Mastermind Groups
This lens is about my mastermind group and how the concept introduced by Mr. Hill has positively impacted my life as well as the lives of my group members.
A Word from Napoleon Hill on Think and Grow Rich
It All Started When....
For me, it all started when I joined Pat O'Bryan's Portable Empire University in 2007 after reading his book, "Your Portable Empire" about internet marketing. The University was an online learning centre and forum for people interested in internet marketing. What I found was that it was one of the most enjoyable forums I had ever been a part of. People were super friendly and helpful in providing advice to one another. Shortly after I joined the university, someone posted a notice on the forum that suggested starting a mastermind group and I immediately knew that I wanted to be a part of it. If memory serves me, there were five of us who met weekly via conference line for an hour to discuss our goals, progress and requests for help.Well, after about 6 months, the group lost steam and all that was left was myself and Joan Adams. Joan and I were dissappointed and decided that we would keep the group going and so searched the internet for some new mastermind partners.
Within a month, we added 4 new ladies to our group and we were off and rolling again - meeting weekly by teleconference line and discussing our dreams, goals, sharing successes and, supporting each other.
Joan Adams a.k.a. Moonvine
Joan has been a great inspiration for me and many others. When I met her, she was a newbie internet marketer (as was I) and look at her now! She is a Giant 100 Squid, a Squid Angel, she runs her own blog talk radio show with another one of our mastermind members, she has launched a wonderful ebook on the internet and continues to inspire others while keeping on top of being a wife, mom, grandmother, sister and wonderful friend. Kate Loving Shenk a.k.a. Mukunda
Kate joined our group more than a year ago now and is another Portable Empire University alum. She has also become a squidoo fanatic and is also a Giant Squid. I find Kate to be a great inspiration for her activism and spirituality. She has been a practising nurse for 25 years and has been tirelessly active in promoting single payer healthcare in the state of Pennsylvannia. Kate is Moo on the popular Blog Talk Radio show Moon Moo & You in partnership with Joan Adams. Charly Leetham (no a.k.a. as far as I know)
Charly joined our group around the same time that Kate did. I liked Charly immediately because of her friendly voice and her Australian accent. In the nineties, I spent a year backpacking around Australia and hearing her voice brings back wonderful memories of a wonderful time. Charly is the member of our group that has, without a doubt, the strongest technical and internet marketing background of us all. She has a 20+ year background working in IT and has been a wonderful contributor to all of us in the group. In fact, I was so impressed with her knowledge that last year, I asked her to partner with me and my friend Liz (who you'll meet later) to help us in creating our energy coaching website, TheWayToBlissNow.com. We've made huge strides since we launched our site in September of '08 thanks to Charly - we couldn't have done it without her. Charly is also a wife and Mum to two beautiful teen-agers and another Giant Squid. You can find out more about Charly at the links below:Charly's Squidoo Profile

Becky Rhone-Nowlan a.k.a. MagicPocketz
Becky is another Portable Empire University alum and a customer service rep extraordinaire! In fact she wrote the book on it - literally - LOL! That's right - a book on how to provide the best customer care. Did you know that it costs businesses something like 10 times as much to gain a new customer as compared to keeping an exisiting customer happy? Clearly, there are huge benefits to providing excellent customer service. You can find out more about Becky below:Becky's Squidoo Profile

Liz Lichti (pronounced "lick-ty")
Liz is the newest member of our mastermind group and a personal friend of mine who came on board when one of our members decided to move on to other things. Liz has been a member of our little group for only a few months and is also, the newest to internet marketing and she has certainly come a long way. She is already addicted to squidoo and has been cranking out lenses like a real pro. Her journey began last fall at my urging. We are both energy coaches and met and became friends due to our mutual interests. In the fall of 2008, we launched a new membership website called TheWayToBlissNow.com to help people release their blocks to success and prosperity. Liz had a real block with article writing when she started but released it successfully and has now written several articles on the web, posts regularly to our blog and is active on twitter too - all while keeping up with being a wife and Mom to three boys. Laura Whitelaw - that's Me!
I've witnessed and benefitted from the amazing power of mastermind groups since the fall of 2007. Since then I've published an ebook on Writing a Professional Resume, launched a new website with my partner Liz and Charly's help of course, called TheWayToBlissNow.com and become a squidoo fanatic as well. I have to say in all honesty, that I could not have done all that I've done without the support of my group. Find out more about me from the links below:My Squidoo Profile

- I've been looking for a mastermind group to join. They seem to be hard to find. I was asked to join one recently on the internet, but they were looking for a woman. I didn't qualify. :) 5 *'s!
