Genre- Thriller

Stars- Joshua Jackson (Gorgeous)

Plot- There are these secret societies which are like college fraternities only everything is secret. (Duh!) This particular secret society called Skulls is special- it's the best in America. And Luke (Joshua Jackson) can't wait to be a member. His bank account suddenly gets bigger and he's given a new car. But things get out of hand when Luke's room mate Will, hangs himself. Except it doesn't look like a suicide when Luke finds a fellow Skull member's key in Will's possession...

Quotes- "Oh yeah Caleb one more thing. Will wasn't dead when you left him there in the War room."

Best Bit- When Caleb and Luke had a duel. Quite exciting.

Opinion- Not very thrilling for a thriller. It was more of a drama. But I can't complain at Joshua Jackson!
Score- 6/10

Genre- Action Comedy

Stars- Drew Barrymore, Cameron Diaz, Lucy Lui and Bill Murray

Plot- Based on the popular seventies TV series, these three girls work for Charlie, whom they have never met. They have a mission to save this guy who was kidnapped and also save his voice identification software.

Quotes- "Good morning angels," "Good morning Charlie!" "And that's kicking your ass!"

Best Bit- When Natalie, (Cameron Diaz) and her date go to Soul Train and she goes up on stage to dance- the Robot is classic!

Opinion- A very funny, feel good movie, but not very original, rips off Matrix, Shanghai Noon and Mission Impossible. Good Out-takes.

Genre- Romantic Comedy

Stars- Freddie Prince Jr. (Swoon!), Julie Stiles and Henry Winkler (The Fonz)

Plot- There wasn't one. It was about first love and the tingly feeling that you get. Al (Freddie Prince Jr) meets Imagen (Julia Stiles) in a bar and they fall in love. End of story. More or less. Obviously they break up and then get back together again before the movie finishes.

Quotes- "And then we make up. And that's when you get that feeling. The tingling."

Best Bit- When Imagen picks out a song to be 'their song' and she dances to it. It's sweet.

Opinion- There's wasn't really a substantial plot. Something should've happened. She should've got pregnant. But it had a happy ending. And I like romantic comedies.

Score- 5/10

Genre- Romantic Comedy

Stars- Sandra Bullock and Ben Affleck (Phwoar!)

Plot- Ben (Ben Affleck) is engaged and on his way to his wedding when he meets Sandra Bullock. The plane crashes and everything keeps going wrong. It's almost as if something is telling him he shouldn't get married. So anyway he ends up posing as a doctor and Sandra's wife to get a free coach ride to Miami to look at condos! Then the best man and maid of honour show up...

Quotes- "I'm sorry about the kissing thing. If I'd known you were getting married I never would have made it open mouth."

Best Bit- When they're hiding in the pool. Very funny.

Opinion- Quite a funny film overall. Not extremely interesting. And I didn't like the ending. It was the right ending, but I just didn't like it.

Score- 6.5/10

Genre- Costume Drama

Stars- Winona Ryder, Claire Danes, Samantha Mathis,
Kirsten Dunst and Christian Bale

Plot- Based on Louisa M. Alcott's famous novel, Little Women follows the adventures of four free-spirited sisters as they grow up with their mother while their father is at war. Watch as they fall in and out of love in this heart-warming tale of lasting friendship and the enchanting years between girlhood and womanhood.

Quotes- "We've got to grow up some time. We might as well know what we want."

Best Bit- When Amy and Laurie are in the carriage when she has to stay with Aunt March because Beth is sick. It's really cute.

Opinion- A timeless classic which always makes me cry. I love it!

Score- A well deserved 9/10

Genre- Costume Drama

When- 6th December 2000

Stars- Absolutely nobody special!

Plot- This is the sequel to Louisa M. Alcott's novel Little Women. Jo and Professor Bher have turned Plum Field into a school for children with nowhere to live. Meg's twins also live there, too. When Meg's husband comes across a boy (Nat) who looks like he has potential, he sends him to Plum Field. Soon, Nat's friend Dan finds where his companion had been sent and he decides to stay. But soon, he starts causing all sorts of trouble.

Quotes- Unfortunately, there weren't any good lines in this film.

Best Bit- When all the boys get up in the middle of the night to play poker, smoke and drink. Doesn't say much for the film.

Opinion- Nowhere near as good as Little Women, but not a terrible movie overall.

Score- A generous 5/10

Genre- Comedy

Stars- Brenden Fraser and Alicia Silverstone

Plot- (Deep breath) There's this man and he's eccentric and he takes his pregnant wife down to their fallout shelter because he thinks the Russians are dropping Bombs. About five minutes after they go down, a plane crashes on their house and his thinks it was a nuclear bomb so he sets the locks so that they can't get out for thirty-five years. She has her baby down there, Adam, (Brendan Fraser) and he grows up never seeing the world. Thirty-five years later, he leaves the fallout shelter to get supplies for his family to last another ten years after his father sees what the world is like. And while he's up there he meets Eve (Alicia Silverstone)

Quotes- "Oh my lucky stars! A negro!"

Best Bit- When Adam first leaves the bomb shelter and sees everything for the first time. Laugh out-loud funny.

Opinion- A very funny film. I thought the plot was very original and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Score- 8/10

Genre- High School Comedy

When- 9th December 2000

Stars- Mark (Empire Records), Jennifer Love-Hewitt, Melissa Joan Hart and loads of other people. (Dharma, Murray and Travis from Clueless, two guys from Sister Sister to name a few)

Plot- Preston (Mark) has been in love with Amanda (Jennifer Love-Hewitt) for four years and he finally decides to tell her how he feels at the graduation party. Especially now that her boyfriend has just broken up with her. Meanwhile, there are lots of other characters that make up the subplots which add to making this film what it is.

Quotes- "Hey. My retainer kind of looks like a Klingon Warship. 'Release Fotons!' (Various sound effects)"

Best Bit- When William (class geek) gets drunk and performs 'Paradise City' by Guns 'n' Roses up on stage at the party. It's mad.

Opinion- Very funny. Quite a good plot. Some dodgy scenes. But overall a good film.

Score- 7/10

Genre- High School Romantic Comedy

When- 10th December 2000

Stars- Alicia Silverstone

Plot- This film is based on the book Emma. Life's hard for Cher, (Alicia Silverstone) the rich and beautiful sixteen year-old who lives in Bel-Air. But somehow she seems to keep it all together, and still have time to give her new friend Tai a makeover and find a love match for her debate teacher. But when two new guys walk into her life, she finds out that when it comes to love, she's totally clueless!

Quotes- "Dion and I are both named after great singers of the past who now do infomercials." "I don't rely on mirrors, so I always take Polaroid's."

Best Bit- The beginning when Cher is introducing herself to us and telling us about her life.

Opinion- A fantastic feel-good film with a great cast of characters. Very funny.

Score- 8/10

Genre- Weird Romantic Comedy Drama Thingy

When- 15th December 2000

Stars- Ewan McGregor and Cameron Diaz

Plot- Life isn't treating Robert (Ewan McGregor) very well. He just got fired from his job to be replaced by robots, and his girlfriend left him for an aerobics instructor. Then he met his ex-bosses daughter, (Cameron Diaz) and he kidnaps her. Normally, they wouldn't have even met, but this isn't a normal story. Two angels have been sent to Earth to make them fall in love. Which is going to be the hardest assignment ever.

Quotes- "I will save him with an arrow. An arrow of my love for him."

Best Bit- When they do karaoke. It's mad!

Opinion- Fantastic! Very funny and romantic. You'll want to see it over and over.

Score- 8.5/10

Genre- Romantic Comedy

Stars- Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks

Plot- Based on the book, 'The Shop Around the Corner', Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks team up again for the first time since 'Sleepless in Seattle' as Kathleen Kelly and Jo Fox, business rivals who both own bookshops. What they don't know though, is that they are anonymous e-mail cyber pals who fall in love over the Internet, not realising who they are in love with.

Quotes- "It happened in Spain. People do crazy things when they're on vacation." "Absolutely. They buy leather jackets for much more than they're worth but they don't fall in love with fascist dictators."

Best Bit- When Jo makes friends with Kathleen and convinces her that her e-mail friend is already married. You have to see it to know what I mean.

Opinion- Great film. It'll make you cry but it's still funny, and incredibly romantic.

Score- 9/10

Genre- Comedy

Stars- Jack Nicholson, Glen Close, Pierce Brosnan, Danny Devito, Michael J. Fox, Jack Nicholson, Tom Jones, Natalie Portman and Martin Short

Plot- Basically, these Martians come down to Earth and decide to just kill everybody! Everyone does their best to stop them but they have really big brains and really cool guns so there isn't exactly anything they can do. Except play some weird music to make their heads explode.

Quotes- "Hey, he made the international sign of the donut."

Best Bit- When some of the survivors fly to Taho and Tom Jones breaks out into song and all the animals start dancing. Insane.

Opinion- Very funny. That's all there is to say except that there's a great cast, too.

Score- 7.5/10

Genre- Bio-pic

When- 21st-22nd December 2000

Stars- Dennis Quaid and Wynona Ryder

Plot- This is the true story of Jerry Lee Lewis. He becomes famous, and while he's staying at his cousin's house, he falls in love with his cousin's thirteen year-old daughter (Wynona Ryder). And although it was very inappropriate, he marries her. And because she's only thirteen, and she's his cousin (second cousin twice removed) he becomes unpopular when he tours England. And her father practically disowns them both.

Quotes- "Well if rock and roll is the devil's music, I guess I'll be playing my piano all the way to hell."

Best Bit- When he plays the piano. It's incredible.

Opinion- Absolutely fantastic. It's just an incredible film.

Score- 9/10

Stars- Arnold Schwarzenegger

Plot- This film is set in the future. At a time where human cloning is illegal. But there is a company who is ignoring that law. It's Adam's (Arnold Schwarzenegger) birthday and everything seems to be going OK until he comes home to find out that he's already at home blowing out the candles on his birthday cake. Somebody cloned him. But how?

Quotes- "I might be back."

Best Bit- When Adam finds out that he's the clone. Very intense.

Opinion- Not my kind of film, but overall I was impressed.

Score- 7/10

Genre- Comedy

Stars- Ben Stiller, Robert De Niro and Own Wilson

Plot- Greg (Ben Stiller) is planning on proposing to his girlfriend Pam, until he discovers that in their family, he's supposed to ask her father first. So he visits Pam's parents for the weekend. And things just get worse and worse. And it doesn't help when he finds out that her father is an ex- CIA agent.

Quotes- "Did they teach you that in the CIA? Huh? Yeah I've got another question for your little lie detector. Do I think you're a psycho? Yes. And about that plant I bought you. The Jerusa- what? What's that? You don't know Jack about plants? Oh that's right. One more question. Can you deal with that?"

Best Bit- When he set the garden on fire. Hilarious!

Opinion- Extremely funny. It makes you cringe the whole way through. You think it couldn't get any worse, but it does!

Score- 8/10

Genre- Horror

When- 24th December 2000

Stars- Devon Sawa and Kerr Smith

Plot- Alex (Devon Sawa) has a premonition that the plane he's about to travel on explodes. He gets hysterical and so is kicked off the plane with five other students and a teacher. Moments later the plane explodes. And because these seven people 'cheated death', death has come after them. Alex theorises that everybody has a design, and if you can work it out, then you can cheat death again. Which is a good job because it's almost his turn to die%u2026

Quotes- "The guy who rides with you while you take the test, said 'son, you're going to die at a very young age.' Is that true?"

Best Bit- When Terri gets hit by a bus. You're just not expecting it.

Opinion- Very scary. Quite gory, but overall it's fantastic. And you can notice stuff the second time round that you don't see the first time. And because you're not spending your time trying to figure out who the killer is, you spend your time trying to work out how they're going to die.

Score- 8.5/10

Genre- Drama

When- 25th December 2000

Stars- Sandra Bullock, Jane (ZDJJ) and Steve Buscemi

Plot- Sandra Bullock is an alcohol and drug addict who after crashing a car into someone's' house is sentenced with jail or a month in rehab. So naturally she chooses rehab. She doesn't like it at first. And the people there don't like her. But eventually she manages to open up and makes good friends with her room-mate (Jane).

Quotes- "Well you know what? Here's five dollars. I don't intend on cleaning all week."

Best Bit- The end when Falcon goes to rehab. How ironic.

Opinion- Very good. Not my type of film but I enjoyed it.

Score- 6.5/10

Genre- High School Drama

When- 26th December, 2000

Stars- Jeff Daniels

Plot- There's this teacher (Jeff Daniels) and he works at a school full of no-hopers. And he has to enter a group of kids in the academic decathlon. (A competition in which kids take tests for fun.) But there's this other school who always wins and they don't stand a chance against them. So what they do is cheat. They see the tests beforehand and remember the answers. But when they win everybody gets suspicious. And it just gets way out of hand.

Quotes- "We can wear skirts and write the answers on our legs."

Best Bit- When they spend all night planning how to cheat. One of them programmes the answers into their calculators and others write them on their shoes and stuff.
It's real funny.

Opinion- Pretty good film overall. Not very exciting of funny or anything, but not bad.

Score- 6/10

Stars- Dennis Quaid

Plot- John, is a policeman and one day he finds his dead father's old short wave radio and decided to try it out. Turns out that it works and he can talk to his father (Dennis Quaid) thirty years ago! He doesn't realise it's his father at first but then it starts to sink in and he warns him of the fire that he should have died in thirty years ago. So his father survives the fire but because the timeline changes in unravels a bunch of murders, which have to be stopped. The plot thickens...

Quotes- Can't think of any

Best Bit- When John's father saves himself in the fire and John drops the glass and it all happens in slow motion. Very cool. I also liked the bit when he turned into Maguiver.

Opinion- A great film. A very clever and original idea. It's just amazing.

Score- 8.5/10

Stars- Anthony LaPaglia, Rory Cochrane, Johnny Whitworth, Liv Tyler and Renee Zellweger

Plot- Basically it's about these young slackers, doers and dreamers who work in a record store called Empire Records. It's set on one very eventful day where, Lucas steals $9000 and goes to Atlantic City and loses it, AJ decides to tell Corey that he loves her while she's trying to score with Rex Manning because he's there signing autographs and Debra comes to work with a bandage on her wrist and she shaves her head. Oh, and Warren steals from the store and then comes back with a gun.

Quotes- "This music is the glue of the world Mark. It's what holds it all together. Without this, life would be meaningless." "Dude did you hear about Lucas?"

Bets Bit- When they have the big party at the end to raise money and save the empire. Cool. Especially when Gena performs on stage.

Opinion- Absolutely fantastic. Extremely funny. One of the best movies ever.

Score- 9.5/10

Stars- Ethan Hawke

Plot- Jesse (Ethan Hawke) and Celine meet on a Eurorail train travelling from Budapest to Vienna. They start talking and Celine decides to spend the day with Jesse in Vienna. And during the 14 hours they spend together they reveal they innermost thoughts and secrets to each other. But alas, she must leave for Paris in the morning. What's a girl to do?

Quotes- "Yo dude, what's up?"

Best Bit- When they're in the restaurant and they're pretending to talk to their friends on the phone. It's funny and sweet at the same time.

Opinion- Absolutely amazing. It's one of the most romantic films I've ever seen.

Score- 9.5/10

Stars- Bruce Willis and Samuel L. Jackson

Plot- This guy (Bruce Willis) is on a train which crashes and he is the only survivor. What's more, there isn't a scratch on him. So he starts thinking. He's never been injured and he's never had a sick day in his life. So this other guy, Elisha (Samuel L. Jackson) finds out about him and he's really strange. He thinks that Bruce has special powers. And Bruce's family think he's not right because he has this disease that makes his bones break easily and they think it affects his brain. So it just gets weirder and weirder...

Quotes- "No shooting friends Joseph."

Best Bit- When his son tries to shoot him to prove he can't be hurt. It's really intense.

Opinion- A very good film. I thought it was really scary but the twist at the end wasn't that good.

Score- 7.5/10

Stars- Mike Myers, Anthony LaPaglia and Mike Myers

Plot- Charlie (Mike Myers) hasn't had muck luck with his girlfriends. His most recent was a kleptomaniac. But now he's fallen for Harriet and because he's scared of commitment he convinces himself that she's Mrs X- the serial axe-murderer who marries her victims and then kills them!

Quotes- "She was a thief, you gotta believe, she stole my
heart and my cat."

Best Bit- When Charlie performs his poems on stage at the coffee place. They're really funny.

Opinion- Extremely funny. I loved it.

Score- 7.5/10

Stars- Tom Cruise and Renee Zellweger and Cuba
Gooding Jnr

Plot- Jerry Maguire (Tom Cruise) is a sports agent who hates his part in the world. So he writes a mission statement encouraging less clients, less money and more attention. So they fire him. And he's stripped of his friends, his fiancée and his self-respect. The only two people who stand by him are his sole client Rod Tidwell (Cuba Gooding Jnr) and a single mother Dorothy Boyd (Renee Zellweger) who was inspired by his mission statement.

Quotes- "The human head weighs eight pounds."

Best Bit- When Jerry is trying to convince Rod Tidwell to keep him as his agent. Hilarious.

Opinion- Absolutely fantastic.

Score- 9/10

Genre- Romantic Comedy

Stars- Sandra Bullock and Bill Pullman

Plot- Lucy (Sandra Bullock) works as a ticket vendor at a train station. She falls in love with Peter, who travels by train everyday. One day he's pushed onto the tracks and she saves his life. At the hospital, she is mistaken for his fiancée and because he's in a coma, no one knows the truth. And she doesn't have any family so she doesn't want to tell them. So she is accepted into his family over Christmas and she falls in love with Peter's brother Jack
(Bill Pullman).

Quotes- "Peter once asked me when it was that I feel in love with his brother Jack. And I told him, 'it was while you were sleeping'."

Best Bit- The wedding, definitely. It's funny, sweet and sad all at the same time.

Opinion- A really romantic and sweet comedy. It's beautiful.

Score- 8/10

Genre- Romantic Comedy

Stars- Hugh Grant, Joan Cusack, Robin Williams and Jeff Goldblum

Plot- Hugh Grant is in a happy relationship with this woman. Then she gets pregnant which is very unexpected for both of them. And all of a sudden his life is turned upside-down. He has to sell his car, and he has to get rid of his cat. Not to mention their doctor is a Russian monkey and rat tushi doctor. Can their relationship survive the trials and tribulations of the pregnancy?

Quotes- Can't think of any.

Best Bit- When they're shopping for baby stuff and Hugh and this other guy get in a fight with Arnie the dinosaur. Funny.

Opinion- I love this film. It is so sweet and funny and romantic. It's great.

Score- 8.5/10

Genre- Action Thriller

Stars- Ben Affleck (Swoon)

Plot- Rudy (Ben Affleck) and this other guy (Nick) are about to be released from prison when Nick gets killed in a lunchroom brawl. So when Ben gets out he lies to Nick's pen-pal girlfriend and pretends to be Nick. But things get out of hand when Nick's girlfriend's brother who also thinks Rudy is Nick kidnaps him to get him to help with a robbery.

Quote- "Don't play reindeer games with me man."

Best Bit- The twist at the end. Absolutely fantastic.

Opinion- It was really good. I mean Ben Affleck was really good. It was exciting and Ben Affleck was really good. The twist at the end was fantastic and Ben Affleck was really good.

Score- 7/10

Genre- High School Romantic Comedy

When- 13th January 2001

Stars- Freddy Prince Jr.

Plot- Based on the classic musical My Fair Lady, Zac (Freddy Prince Jr.) is the popular guy at school, whose friend bets him he can't turn the class geek into prom queen in three weeks. Zac rises to the bet, thinking it will be easy. But it turns out she's going to take a lot of work. And he didn't count on falling in love with her!

Quotes- "Be silent, be still. Be silent, be still."

Best Bit- The performance art. Insanely funny.

Opinion- It was funny, romantic and very predictable. Everything you expect from a high school movie.

Score- 6.5/10

Genre- Drama

When- 14th January 2001

Stars- Tom Hanks and Helen Hunt

Plot- Tom Hanks works for Fed Ex and he takes his job very seriously. One day he goes on a plane to deliver some packages and the plane crashes. Being the only survivor, he's washed ashore on a desert island with nothing but some packages and one Fed Ex package. There doesn't seem to be any way off the island so he must go about fighting to survive. The irony is, he put off going to the dentist!

Quotes- "We live by the clock and die by the clock. It is our responsibility to never turn our back on time."

Best Bit- When he's finally made a fire and he goes nuts. It's very funny.

Opinion- Absolutely fantastic. Incredible. Amazing. And absolutely nothing immoral. What more could you ask for from Bobby Z?

Score- 9/10

Genre- Sci-Fi Horror

When- 14th January 2001

Stars- Elijah Wood

Plot- There's something weird going on at the small high school in Ohio. The teachers are acting very strange. They're drinking lots of water. And they find one of the teachers dead in the closet of the teacher's lounge. It's almost as if they're from another planet...

Quotes- "Guaranteed to jack you up."

Best Bit- When the teacher sticks the pencil through the other teacher's hand. It's disgusting!

Opinion- Very good. It was scary and very clever but the twist was a bit obvious.

Score- 7.5/10

Genre- Romantic High School Comedy/Shakespeare

When- 20th January 2001

Stars- Julia Stiles, Heath Ledger, Larissa Oleynik,

Plot- Based on the Story 'Taming of the Shrew', Bianca (Larissa Oleynik) and Kat (Julia Stiles) are sisters whose father doesn't want them to date so he makes up a rule that Bianca can't date until Kat does. Kat doesn't intend on dating so when Cameron moves to Padua, he goes about finding a date for Kat so that he can go out with Bianca. Patrick Verona (Heath Ledger) seems like the perfect candidate, but it's going to take a lot to convince him. So they need a backer- someone with money, whose stupid- Joey Donnor, who also wants to date Bianca. And so it goes...

Quotes- "In faith I do not love thee with mine eyes, for they in thee a thousand errors note. But tis my heart that loves what they despise, who in despite of view is pleased to dote.

Best Bit- When Patrick apologises to Kat by singing to her in front of the gym class. It's so sweet.

Opinion- Two enthusiastic thumbs up. Fine Holiday fun.

Score- 8/10

Genre- Musical

When- 21st January 2001

Stars- Christian Bale, Bill Pullman and David Moscow

Plot- Set in New York in 1899, the newsies go on strike after the price of newspapers goes up. Jack Kelly (Christian Bale) leads the boys on as they fight the newspaper and try to get all the other newsies to join them. And Bill Pullman helps them out by writing about them in his newspaper. The problem is, Jack is an escapee from the refuge, a prison for children and they're out to get him.

Quotes- "Headlines don't sell papes, newsies sell papes."

Best Bit- When they sing and dance. It's really cool.

Opinion- Incredible. One of the best musicals I've seen. And Christian Bale is fine.

Score- 9/10
