The Ninja Master Prep
I love my new Ninja Master Prep. Here's the story of how I came to watch a little tv and change my life. I live by a schedule that most people would consider rather odd. I usually awaken at around 3 am every morning. Why do I tell you this? I mention it by way of explanation of a recent discovery I made that changed my life. If you turn on the tv at that hour (and really, what else are you going to do at 3 am) you'll find infomercials. Lots of 'em. But one in particular stood out for me. How I Came To Buy The Ninja Master Prep
The Ninja Master Prep. It's a food processor. It's a blender. It's a chopper. It's all three. It is the most useful kitchen appliance I have ever owned. I have made healthy homemade soups. Homemade is way better than store bought. You can control the salt. Commercial soups so often have much too much salt for it to be good for you.
About one year ago I watched a show that demonstrated making imitation mashed potatoes using cauliflower. It's a healthier alternative to the original. Only 1 gram of carbohydrate per serving, and really quite low in calories. I went out and bought myself a new blender that I thought would work. It didn't. It just couldn't pull the cauliflower florets down into the blades.
After watching the infomercial for the Ninja Master Prep, I looked online and found that a nearby store carried them. "Great," I thought, "I won't have to wait after ordering it online." ( I tend toward impatience, and when there is instant gratification, I will usually avail myself of the opportunity. It's one of my many faults.)
After getting the new acquisition home, I immediately nuked some cauliflower and put it to the test. (Are you aware that it takes nearly as long to microwave cauliflower as it does to cook it on the stove? I just thought that was an interesting little tidbit of information.) I placed the cauliflower in the blender pitcher along with a little soy milk. After placing the power head on top, (taking care to make sure it was seated properly, as failing to do so can damage the gears) and pulsed it a few times. So far, so good. I then let it go for several seconds. You can't believe how fast this machine will chop up food. And then it's only a few more seconds to puree.
After pureeing the cauliflower, I opened the top and added some dill, some black pepper, and then a little garlic powder, and pulsed again. Just enough to mix the seasoning in. Into a bowl it went. Wow! Garlic and dill mashed potatoes, err, I mean cauliflower. It's just that hard to tell the difference.

The New Ninja Master Prep Pro
Recently, there has been a new development in the Ninja Master Prep story. There is now a new, and improved, more powerful, more blades, more containers version. The Ninja Master Prep Pro. The original model had two sets of blades. This new one has added another set of blades for use in the pitcher. That's a total of 3 levels of blades. Along with the new more powerful motor, it becomes an extreme chopping machine. Not available in the stores yet, this one can be obtained from Euro Pro's website. The Ninja Master Prep and the Green Smoothie
Then there was the green smoothie. Collared greens, kidney beans, blueberries, a little ground flax seed, and water. A super vitamin pill in liquid form.
There is a new movement in the world of nutrition. It's called the Nutritarian movement. You probably haven't heard of it yet. It's still fairly new. It's based on the latest news in the science of human nutrition. Basically, the idea is that superior nutrition comes from plants. Nutritarians try to find and eat the foods with the highest nutritional value per calorie. These foods are exclusively plant in origin. Don't believe me? Here's a quick little quiz then. Which has the most protein per calorie, 100 calories of kale, or 100 calories of prime USDA beef? Given the context of the question you're probably thinking that the correct answer is the kale and you're right. But does it surprise you? I know it did me.

A Word About Nutrition and Nutritarians
The word "nutritarian" is a word coined by Dr. Joel Fuhrman. It is used to describe a person who has made the personal choice to pursue superior nutrition by choosing and eating only foods that offer the highest nutrition per calorie. Dr. Fuhrman is a family practitioner with a practice in New Jersey. He has had truly amazing results in treating patients with diseases such as heart disease, and diabetes. He says you can reverse both with strict adherence to proper nutrition. He has the results to back that up too. His books teach people how to eat properly so that we need not suffer the problems caused by our modern diet. Here are some offerings to help you regain your health.

Most of Dr. Fuhrman's books are also available on your Kindle ereader.
