My Pal Violet Review

My daughter is one year old so she basically likes any toy that has buttons she can push. When my daughter is playing with Violet she pushes on the paws so quickly that Violet usually can't finish what she was saying before she must start saying something else. But, my daughter has a blast doing this which is what is important!

When I take control of Violet my daughter dances and claps her hands along with the music and seems to have a lot of fun. Violet has also become a staple at bedtime, my daughter won't go to bed without her. We turn on Violet's lullabies (choose between 2, 5 and 10 minutes of bedtime music) and my daughter usually goes to sleep before the lullabies are finished. Sometimes, from the other room we hear my daughter playing with Violet but it never keeps her awake.

It's also nice to have Violet in the crib when my daughter wakes up in the morning. She used to wake up and immediately start crying but now she just sits and plays with her puppy until we come get her. I have a feeling that as my daughter gets older Violet will become one of those toys that must go everywhere with us, my daughter already insists on giving Violet a kiss goodnight.

The age recommendations for My Pal Violet are 6 months to 3 years and I think that LeapFrog has hit the mark on this. A 6 month old baby will likely enjoy watching you interact with Violet and will also enjoy learning to push the paws to hear the puppy speak and sing. As a child grows older she will start to enjoy interacting with Violet on her own. Older toddlers will love the fact that Violet knows their favorite animal, color and food!

When it comes down to it, I am very happy that we have My Pal Violet for my daughter! I know that this stuffed animal will be much loved for many years to come. I think it is a great value, especially since it is on sale so often!

I purchased a My Pal Scout for my friend's one year old several months ago before I knew anything about these puppies. Her son was as enamored with Scout as my daughter is with Violet. His four old sister also fell in love and they ended up buying her a My Pal Violet. It is only suggested for kids up to three years of age, but my friend reports that her four year old still plays with Violet on a daily basis.

Customize your My Pal Violet in a few easy steps!

Step 1: Connect to the internet. (If you're reading this, you've probably already done this step!)

Step 2: Download LeapFrog Connect. Click on the name to be taken to the page where you can download LeapFrog Connect. (Link will open in a new window or tab) When you get to this window you will see two orange buttons giving you the option to download Leapfrog Connect for PC or Mac. Choose the appropriate button for your computer. A window will pop up asking you to save the file, go ahead and click save and the file will start downloading.

Step 3: Install LeapFrog Connect. Find LeapFrog Connect on your computer, it's location will depend on the preferences you have set for your downloads, it may be on the desktop or in the downloads folder depending on your browser settings. Open the file and click on "next" to start installation. Once installation is complete you will need to hit "continue" to start setting up My Pal Violet.

Step 4: Select My Pal Violet on the LeapFrog Connect Home Screen.

Step 5: Connect My Pal Violet to your computer, the LeapFrog Connect Application will walk you through this process.

Step 6: Create a LeapFrog Parent Account. Just fill in the form on the LeapFrog Connect screen to complete your application. If you already have a LeapFrog Parent Account select "sign in" on the right side of the screen to log into your account.

Step 7: Tell LeapFrog who will be playing with My Pal Violet. Click on "Who Plays With This Toy?" and then enter your child's information. This will help LeapFrog customize your child's experience and will provide you with information regarding what your child is learning as she plays with My Pal Violet. After completing this step you will be taken back to the LeapFrog Connect Home Screen.

Step 8: Click on your child's name below the picture of My Pal Violet and My Pal Scout to enter My Pal's Scout and Violet home page.

Step 9: Click on the Get Started button to being customizing My Pal Violet.

Step 10: Enter your child's first name into the box on the My Name page then click "find audio". If your child's name is available click on the audio button to hear Violet pronounce your child's name then confirm the spelling and click save.
* If your child's name is not available, try searching with a different spelling. When you find a name that is pronounced like your child's name you can correct the spelling in the spelling box.
* If there is no audio available that sounds like your child's name you may use a nickname. Follow the steps above to find a correct pronunciation of your child's nickname. This is a rare problem and LeapFrog adds to their list of names periodically so be sure to check back often!

Step 11: Click "Continue to my picks" to choose your child's favorite animal, color and food. On the My Picks page you will see a list of colors, animals and foods that you may choose as your child's favorite. Click the radio button next to one selection in each of the categories. Then, click on Save to save your selections.

Step 12: Click on "Continue" if you would like to customize My Pal Violet's music selections. On The My Music page you can select 5 daytime songs and 5 lullabies for My Pal Violet to play. Click on the speaker next to the song title to hear a sample. Click on save to complete customization!
